Do you have an 80's toy you can't identify?
If so, email me a picture or two, plus a description
and I'll see if I can find out what it is. If I don't
know, I'll post the pictures and description here and
maybe someone else will (in which case, please email
me).
Please also check out the Identified
Toy page as a few of them I am still searching
for more information on and someone out there maybe
able to help!
When the toys below are identified
I move their description to the Identified
Toys page, so if something you've seen
here is no longer listed it will be there instead!

Marta emailed me this plush
toy's image and description:
"I am trying
to locate and/or find out any info. I can about
a stuffed animal that my daughter had when she
was little. It was a brown and white plush
rabbit. She named him "Charlie"........and
it is possible that it had a tag on it, that had
that name. My mother bought it for her around
1983. Possibly at a K-Mart store.
My daughter lost it a few years ago in a move
and we have been trying to locate one ever since.
If you could help that would be great."

Kim emailed me this doll's image
and description:
"I remember
having this doll since I was a kid, and I want
to sell her, but I can't until I figure out what
she is. I have tried doing research on the internet
and I haven't even gotten any leads. Here is a
description:
First of all, she has two different copyright
years. Her head says 'IDEAL copyright
1984 CBS Inc H-432' while her back says
'Copyright 1974 IDEAL toy Corp TNT-14-8-34
32'.
Her head can rotate and her eyes (blue) close
when laid down, but the rest of her is solid.
Nothing else is jointed. Her mouth has a little
hole in it like it was meant to put a bottle in
or something. She is approximately 12
1/2' high.
She is pretty white in colour with blond
hair. Who is she? Thanks"

Kitty emailed me this description:
"Hi, I had a couple
of dolls from a series when I was a kid
- probably on the early end of the 80's.
They were cat people - humanoid
body and human/feline faces,
and they were dressed and
named by region. I had French
and Russian dolls (don't remember the
names!) which were white with purple clothing and red
with black clothing respectively. They had soft
bodies, covered in fur, and hard plastic
faces/paws. I think they were somewhere between
6 - 9 inches tall. I've been trying to
figure out what they were for years! Any ideas? Thanks."

Elia emailed me this question
about Human Beans:
"I've been
trying to search about the line of dolls called
the Human Beans. This is a baby
picture of me in 1986 holding a Human
Bean doll and I can't seem to find any
results of Human Bean dolls. The only thing I
can find on them are ceramic figures and ornaments.
Do you know anything about the Human Beans dolls?"

| Lana emailed
me with this description:
"I have to find out
what the name of these dolls are. They
were made in 1988 by Hasbro.
They were 18" tall, fully poseable,
thanks to the way there limbs were attached. Each limb
was attached by black elastic cord. The head was also
attached this way. I believe that these dolls came with
a locket containing a picture of themselves
on one side and a place for our picture on the other side.
These dolls remind me of the American Girl Dolls. I hope
someone can help. I have found several of these dolls
on E-bay but no one has a name for them. Thanks."
Lana
Mel
also emailed me about these dolls and included three images
of her own dolls in the hope someone may recognise them.
UPDATE!!!
Lan emailed to say these dolls may be called
My So Beautiful, but as I can't confirm
this I will leave this question here until I can.

dolls then please email

Mary emailed me this description:
"Hello! I have been
looking for a certain stuffed animal
and I cannot find it anywhere! It was a white
rabbit stuffed animal with long ears
and at the top of it's head it had a little compartment
that held lip gloss. I loved this stuffed animal
and I really hope you can find the name and if there is
some place I can get one! Thanks so much!"
Mary
UPDATE!!!
Whispers emailed to say thais it sounds very
much like the Candy Blossom Plush rabbits from Peppermint
Rose. Awaiting Mary's reply.

Tori emailed me
this image of her doll and description:
"Hi, I think
i got this doll when I was around 7 which would
have been 1995 but I think I may
have had one that broke before I got this one around
the earlier 90s.
She had blonde hair and blue
eyes and a soft body with
hard plastic for half of her arms and legs.
She came wearing the one piece suit in the picture
which was pink and had a teddy bear on it. She had
a dummy in her mouth and I think
she might have cried when you took
it out. The name Hush-a-bye kind
of rings a bell but I'm not sure. I really want
to know the proper name as I want to find one for
my daughter and I have no idea what to search for.
Thanks."

Immeruth emailed me this Jammie
Pies type doll image and description:
"I need to
identify a sweet little doll I found last summer
at a yard sale. Possibly this unknown doll is from
the 80's, but the sale had a huge pile of stuffies
and dolls, so I really can't say it is from the
80's.
She is about 11 inches tall (to
the ear tips), her face is soft vinyl,
but her head and the rest of her is stuffed. Her
clothes are cotton or cotton blend. I'm assuming
that her tag was on the left side because there's
semi-sloppy re-sewing there as if someone had ripped
the tag off!!"

Clay emailed me this doll image and description:
"I've been
searching for months now for the maker and model
of doll my friend has had since she was a baby.
Now the doll is in tatters, and no one ever knew
her origin. The only things we know for certain
is that the doll was purchased at a KMart in August
of 1988, and this particular doll also came in brunette,
redhead, and African American
versions. I have done what researching I can, and
I'm almost certain that the doll was made by Amtoy
as this doll and Amtoy's dolls of the 80's all shared
the same characteristics, the most obvious of them
being the screen-printed face that's
nearly identical across the board. However, I can
still not pin down which exact doll this is, and
I would appreciate any kind of info you could help
me with."
Cheers, Clay

Sara emailed me this image and
says:
"Hi, I'm looking for a
doll I got my for my 5th birthday
(1983). She came in a black
box and had a pink soft body
and her head was plastic and she had, instead
of hair, like lamb ears with the fuzzy
wool on it. She was in a "sleeping
bag" type wrap that reminded me
of the outside of a corn husk and had a blue
bottle with her. I've been trying to
find this doll forever and am not sure what's
she's called, or even if she was anything more
then a random item off the shelves. I have one
picture of the party and she is sitting on the
ground at the very front but the picture is
not much of a help."

Jana and Lara Dowling emailed
me this image of a group of little dogs.
"I got
these dogs in the late
80s/ early 90s. They aren't stamped
with anything, but they are painted
and have heart collars and
heart paws. They each had
a bow originally, and they
have a loop on the back of
their neck for a leash to
fit through, I think. There was also a
white and pink poodle that I no longer
have, but would desperately like to find again.
Any information would be much appreciated."

these toys then please email

Additional Information &

Lori emailed me about Jana &
Lara's little dogs. She says:
"I have what
I believe is the full set of those dogs. Sadly,
I don't remember what they're called and it's been
something I always wanted to know again. I do have
pictures of more though, if that would help. I
know as a child I got almost all of them and I had
seven so I believe I'm correct in that there are
only eight. They all had bows on their heads and
sprigs of hair on their heads and rumps."

Lauren emailed
me this picture of a toy she used to own as a child
and says:
"I am trying
to find out what the small blue doll
with antenna and wings
is called. I remember my sister had an identical
one only it was pink and
purple. The antenna were a soft
plastic and would light up.
I am sorry this description is a little vague but
after years of no one remembering this toy I found
it in the background of a christmas picture, from
1986. I have looked through multiple
80's toy list from A-Z and have come up empty handed.
Any help you could give would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you."

Question
"An item that
I loved were little ponytail holders
with a plush doll attached which had
about 12" of long, small strand yarn hair.
(I believe they were available in pink, purple or blue).
You used the ponytail holder and then would braid
the doll's hair in with your own. The end result
was a braid with colourful yarn weaved into it and a
tiny doll perched at the top of it.
"They were '80s toys probably prior
to '85 if I remember correctly. They were not uber popular
toys, however, in my group of friends, they were definitely
the toys to have! Also, I don't know if this might help
at all, but I believe they were purchased from K Mart.
I don't recall seeing them at any other stores. I really
hope you or one of your visitors will be able to help
me. Thank you so much!"

Question
"I have no idea if you can help me identify this
set of dolls I had, but they were about
8 inches high, one was blonde,
one was brunette, another war a curly
redhead. They were based around the theme
of being a teenager (no, they weren't Barbie's)
something like "teen girls".
I know I am giving you the vaguest definition of them,
so I apologise. Thanks muchly."

This
furry little hedgehog was sent in by
Jackie, and looks to be just larger than a baby Keyper.
Jackie says:
"I used to have a
toy like this as a kid, except its hair was red/yellow
polka-dotted and its body was yellow, so apparently there
were a variety of colours made. My toy came from Paris,
France in the mid-to-late 80's (it was a present from
a relative on a business trip) and this photograph was
taken by a French woman who found hers at a flea market.
The pictured hedgehog is not mine, as my hedgehog was
lost several years ago, so I can not say if it has a manufacturer's
name on it or anything. The toy had a vinyl body and fluffy
back hair. I called mine "Gina," but I don't
know if I made that up or if that was its actual manufactured
name. I hope you can help! :) The relative who bought
it told me that there were many more fluffy hedgehogs
like it in the store, but can not remember what store
it was or what they were called. Since it was bought in
the 80's, that store probably does not exist anymore."

Question
"Big Yellow Teapot. Probably one
of the most iconic toys ever! I am on a mission to find
information and pictures of the large boot. Not the
Matchbox 'school' boot but very similar, probably made
by Bluebird. It is a light
brown colour as apposed to the bright harsh
yellow of the school boot. The inside is laid out like
a house. Can you help me at all?"
Jacc
Question
"I just recently found a bunch of the Dolly
Pops in a thrift store. It came with the Dress
Show but I cannot get it to work properly.
I don't know what I could possibly be doing wrong. I
just didn't know if you or some one on your website
could help. Thanks so much!"
