Can't find what you're looking for? Use Google to search Ghost Of The Doll!

Do you have an 80's toy you can't identify? If so, email me a picture or two, plus a description and I'll see if I can find out what it is. If I don't know, I'll post the pictures and description here and maybe someone else will (in which case, please email me).

Below is a list of toys which have been identified! Please take a look as some toys I am still searching for information on and you may be able to help!

Brenda emailed me this pony description and image:

"I'm buying this white horse from a friend and was hoping someone could help me identify her this is the description my friend gave me: she says Hasbro 1995 on her It's about the size of a Barbie Horse. I've seen them for sale here & there in lots before. But It has a battery section on the tummy & a speaker section between the hind legs. There is a button in between her eyes so I think she is supposed to talk?"

UPDATE!!!
Thanks to
Paula who identified this toy as Dazzle, My Magical Talking Pony, produced by Hasbro in 1995 and made various noises. Although not part of the My Little Pony line, she come with an original style MLP comb. She came with a saddle (and saddle blanket) which would activate her speech when you put it on, an apple or carrot which activated munching noises when placed in her mouth and talked about having her hair brushed if her mane was combed (or pulled!).

If you have any more information or images of Dazzle then please email me as I would like to put a page together on her.

Stacy emailed me this doll description:

"I'm looking for a doll, or set of dolls, that I had in the early nineties. As I remember they are about two inches tall with a hard plastic head wearing a yellow bonnet (not removable) and the rest of the body was soft fabric filled with what felt like sand--arms and legs were just triangles of the fabric sewn into small triangles. I I had four of these dolls--one was a white girl with pink as her outfit, and the other three came as a set of siblings, they were black wearing blue or purple outfits. A friend of mine had a toy from the same line that had a bear's head... Any ideas?"
Thank you! Stacy

UPDATE!!!
Thanks to everyone who identified these as So Small Babies produced by Galoob in 1989.

If you recognise these dolls then please email me. Please include the ID number in your email so I can find my information!

ID#108

Mandy emailed me these two doll descriptions:

"I've been trying to ID and find some of my fave toys that I remember having as a child, and a couple of them are giving me problems. I was hoping you might could help me figure out who they were, even though I don't have a pic.

  1. I remember having several small dolls when I was a child (born 1981)...they were all quite small, 1-2 inches each, and were formed from hard plastic. They were all a solid, bright colour, with no painting. Some where babies, and some were teenagers. I specifically remember an orange baby boy, chubby yellow baby girl, and a purple ice scater....lol. I'm having no luck finding any info about them online since I don't have pics or dates or anything. Maybe someone here can help?
  2. I also had a rag doll, who I can remember having from a very early age. She was probably about 2 feet tall or so, but completely cloth. She had a pink dress, shoes, and bonnet that were all attached to her, so they couldn't be removed. She also had pink yarn hair done in braids down the side of her head...and her face was embroidered on, so she had no plastic bits, and I believe no paint. She was adorable, and I'd love to be able to find another like her!"

Thank you so much in advance! Mandy

UPDATE!!!

  1. Thanks to everyone who identified the first toy as C.U.T.I.E. produced in 1986.
  2. Thanks to Zuse who identified the second toy as most likely being a rag doll produced by Cuddle-Wit.

ID#107

Farore emailed me this pony description:

"I was wondering if you could perhaps help me ID a set of toys. I had one as a child, but don't recall what the brand or name was. It was a series of hard-bodied pony toys, similar to/knock offs of My Little Ponies. However, these ones were bigger than an MLP, stockier and a bit taller. The one I had was pearlescent blue with grass or meadow-flowers along the side and sparkly hair. The side-symbols were larger than an MLP's, and seemed to be more detailed. I don't have the slightest idea what they were called."
Farore

UPDATE!!!
Thanks to everyone who identified this pony as a Magic Meadow Pony, and more specifically the one described is called Sundance from the Shimmer & Shine line

ID#106

Lourdes emailed me this doll description and image:

"I am trying to ID a doll from 1988. She was made by Hasbro and has a tag that reads: B.A.B.Y. 4430. This doll has a soft stuffed body with a rather large vinyl head - all violet in colour. Her hair is orange with blue bangs. She has a picture of the planet Saturn in each eye (plus moon and stars). She wears a white satin outfit with a pink stuffed moon on the front and pink trim. It also has a silver ring around the neck. Any help in identifying this doll would be greatly appreciated."
Thank you, Lourdes

UPDATE!!!
Thanks to Jennifer who id-ed this doll as B.A.B.Y., produced by Hasbro in 1988. B.A.B.Y. stood for Baby Aliens Belonging To You and there were six different ones. I will put together a page for them soon!

ID#105

Nancy emailed me this toy bear description:

"I am looking for a group of dolls my daughter had back in the early 1990's. They were bought in New York. One group were dragons, and the other group were teddy bears. All plastic, the dragons came in green, pink, yellow and blue. The bears came in purple, pink, white and yellow. The bears all had hair and when you squeezed them, their cheeks would light up. They were maybe about 4 inches high. I would like to try and find them again for her."
Thanks, Nancy

UPDATE!!!
Thanks to
Zuse and Shelba who identified the bear as a Light Up Beamer Bear produced by Lanard in 1994. Lanard produced several sets of light up toys in the mid-90's so the dragons were most likely produced by them too.

ID#103

Amy emailed me this doll description:

"I am trying to ID a new item from the 80's. It was a small doll, the best that I can describe it as is a Polly Pocket sized Barbie doll. They came in small packages with a doll and a outfit, they had a cowgirl one and many others, they were about the size of Polly but looked like a mini barbie, they had real hair and movable arms and legs and the clothes were cloth not rubber/plastic, and they came with tiny shoes, hats and other accessories. They may have been made by Barbie but it was so long ago, early to mid 80's. They looked a lot like the mini Barbie's in Happy Meals."
Thanks, Amy

UPDATE!!!
Thanks to Zuse and Shelba who both ID-ed this doll as the line Dazzle, produced by Mattel in 1981.

ID#102

Katie emailed me this toy description:

"I hope anyone reading this can help me find a toy I had with my sisters when I was young in the 80's. The toy we had was a blue magnifying viewer with a blue handle to hold and a wheel that when you looked through the viewer you could see slides of the film "The Rescuers" , the wheel was white and when you turned the white wheel you could make the film of the rescuers go forwards to look at it. Sometimes I could make the film go backwards which was very funny to do, and I would love to have this toy again to show any children I know! I think it was called a moviescope? Hoping you can help."
Miss Katie Fraser, UK

UPDATE!!!
Thanks to
Jaci who Identified this toy as Movie Viewer produced by Fisher Price from the mid 70's to the mid 80's. They also produced several movie cartridges including The Rescuers.

ID#101

Azzy emailed me this plush bear description and image:

"I'm looking for the name of a purple bear I have. She came with a bottle and when you press her nose, a star in the middle of her belly lights up. There were other animals too, I think my sister had a yellow cat. I'm pretty sure her name is Dreamy. But I might've named her that myself."
Thank you!

UPDATE!!!
Thanks to Rymer who identified this bear as a Twinkle Bear, produced by Fantasy Inc in 1995. There were many different colours and belly shapes and when their noses were pressed the disc in their bellies would light up and sparkle. Rymer also said "if I remember correctly, the story that came with them is that the bears are responsible for catching falling stars and when they do Mother Moon rewards them with the belly shape."

ID#100

Karley emailed me this doll description:

"I am looking for a this little doll I had when I was little, she stood on some sort of pedestal/box (maybe a little jewellery box) that had a light in it so that when you put her on it she would light up or her hair would light up. She was small and plastic and her hair maybe had some sort of fibre optics? I just remember she lit up when you put her on the box and the box opened so I'm pretty sure so that you could store things."
Thanks, Karley

UPDATE!!!
Thanks to Rusty who ID-ed this doll as
The Light Up World of Everglo, produced by ToyMax in 1995. There were six different dolls - Bride, Angel, Lovely Princess, Ballerina, Fairy and Indian Princess.

ID#98

Jaci emailed me this doll description:

"I had a little doll in 1991 that was very tiny. She had a lot of hair I think. She could be shoved into a small house that opened somehow. I seem to remember the roof being on a hinge or something and there was a door that could open but the doll couldn't fit through it. There were necklaces that came with the little houses and the houses could snap onto them or be removed fairly easily.
I could draw the necklace attachment still today. It was rectangular and had two prongs on the bottom that had hooks to hold the house on. At the top of the piece, it had a cut out of a heart. I remember some of my friends having them too."
Jaci

UPDATE!!!
Megan, Lori and Rusty all ID-ed this doll as a Cutie Club Kid, produced by Galoob in 1989-90.

ID#96

Kebekah emailed me this doll description and image:

"Hello, I am inquiring about a doll from the late eighties to more likely the early nineties. This doll is a mermaid with a rainbow streak in her hair and she is around 3 inches. I called her Merwee but I am not sure if this was her name. She has CAP Toys on her back and she came with a purple bath set that stuck to the wall of your bathtub by suction cups. It would really help me greatly to be able to ID this doll since I had so many great times with her."
Thanks a bunch, Rebekah

UPDATE!!!
Thanks to Megan who emailed to confirm this doll is from a line called MerWees, produced in 1997 by Cap Toys. Obviously not a big seller as I can't find anything about them on the internet!

ID#95

Kristen emailed me this toy description:

"I have a question regarding the ID of a series of toys. They were gem shaped containers that came with 'rocks'. They had plastic stoppers on the bottom. You put the rocks in them, filled them with water, and shook them so that beads and accessories for building a piece of jewellery would appear from the stones. Any idea what these were called? I think they were around in the late 80's or early 90's. I believe the boxes were black."
Thanks! Kristen

UPDATE!!!
Jennifer and Paula both ID-ed this toy as Treasure Rocks, produced by Hasbro in the early 90's. There were at least eleven different sets.

ID#94

Pixella emailed me the left image and description:

"Hi! I'm from Germany and last Sunday I found a cute little toy at the flea market. It's a tiny pink burger with a baby inside who is dressed like someone who is working in a fast food shop. It has fries and a burger in his hand and you can move the head. In the cover of the burger is a little baby head with a Ringlet, and on the side says BBT (C)94 China. I hope you can identify this toy, it's so cute!:)"
Many Greetings, Pixella

"I was also wondering if you could help me ID this doll that I have. She has purple hair and is small, she has a pink stand that her feet sit in she also has a fabric skirt that seems to be in the shape of a star. I had a other one but the doll went missing so I only have her clothing. The doll has no markings or dates"

Diana emailed me three doll descriptions, all of which have now been identified:

  1. "The first doll I am looking for wore a red and white polka dot dress and pushed her own yellow stroller while you did. Do you have any idea of her name? I see her mentioned on other sites, but no name listed.
  2. The second doll (left) came in a little nursery that was completely covered over with a gingham cloth. She has a bath, and crib and everything that came in her nursery. Marked Fran Mar Ltd 1981, 4 inches high. Please help me figure out who she could possibly be.
  3. The third doll I am searching for was a knock-off of Cabbage Patch Kids, and I believe was called Sunshine Kids or something like that. I have never seen one since mine was given away and am looking for one"

Sincere thanks, Diana

UPDATES!!!

  1. Megan identified the first doll as Tipee Toes produced by Mattel.
  2. Diana has managed to ID the second doll herself, she's from Moppet's Secret Nursery.

Kelly emailed me four descriptions, two of which have now been identified:

  1. (see unidentified page)
  2. (see unidentified page)
  3. I had two stuffed animals, one was called Sweat Pea, and the other one looked like a peach, and I think they had googly eyes.
  4. It was a set of animals, kind of human like. There was a little town for them, I remember a blue emergency vehicle with a red cross on it."

Thank you for any help! Kelly

UPDATES!!!

Deb emailed me this doll description and image:

I am looking to identify a line of 2 inch dolls my kids had in the 80's. I call her the little gymnast, but there were a dozen or so different characters. They had great faces and hair, and their arms legs and head moved. They were like itty bitty Barbies. I cannot remember what any of the others were wearing but they all had painted on clothing. I do not remember any accessories or additional clothing.
Any help would be appreciated, Deb

UPDATE!!!
Raevyn speedily emailed me to identify this doll as the gymnast from a series of dolls called Kidgetts, produced by Meritus in 1989.

Go to my Kidgetts page!

ID#87

Darlene emailed me this doll description:

"I am hoping to identify a baby doll I got for christmas somewhere between 1989 and 1992. I'm leaning toward 1991. I have been looking for over a year for this doll. From what I remember she had a soft body with the vinyl arms and legs (or soft plastic). She had blonde hair and a big battery pack in her back. I'm pretty sure she took 4 x C or D batteries. I think that if you pushed her head back a little it would activate her and she would say things like "acb" and you would correct her "abc"...then she would get it wrong a couple of times then say the correct thing "abc abc" (and laugh). She would do the same thing with the would applesauce (I think) and the numbers 123. I'm pretty sure her mouth moved and I'm not so sure if her eyes opened and shut. Does anyone know what this doll is?"
Thanks in advance, Darlene

UPDATE!!!
Darlene emailed me to say she has managed to ID this doll herself. It is called Baby Loves To Talk, produced by ToyBiz in 1992 in both black and white.

ID#84

Angelsaurus emailed me this plush bunny description:

"I love this site to bits. So many of the toys featured I remember having as a little girl (in fact the site has made me come to the realization that I was pretty damn spoiled as a kid). But there are actually a lot more that I remember that I have no idea what they were called.
One that I really wonder about was a small-sized (about 10" I think) plush bunny rabbit baby doll. The one I had was pastel purple, but I think they came in other colours too. The main gimmick was that the bunny had extremely long ears with wires sewn into the edges so they could be posed or used to swaddle the baby bunny like a blanket. If anyone else remembers such a cuddly critter or can help me ID it, that would be great."
Thanks for making such a charmingly nostalgic site!
Angelsaurus

UPDATE!!!
Thanks to Jana, Lori and Renee who identified this toy as Grabbits. They were produced by Kenner in 1989.

Go to my Grabbits page!

ID#83

Sabina emailed me this plush puppy description:

"I'm looking for a toy, from late 80's or early 90's. It's a stuffed dog with blue pyjamas on. If you press on his belly, his eyes automatically open and light up. I had one of those but I lost it and I'd really like to know the brand or the name of this toy so I can look for a new one!"
Thanks, Sabina

UPDATE!!!
Thanks to the anonymous person who identified this toy as Peeper Pals. They were produced by Galoob in 1990 (not to be confused with a modern series of plush toys with the same name). I'll put together a page when I can gather enough information.

If you have any more information or images of the original Peeper Pals then please email me.

Go to my Peeper Pals page!

ID#82

Linda emailed me this toy description:

"I am looking for the name of a toy that was sold in either the late 80's or early 90's. They were necklaces that were clear and had raised flower designs on them. The necklaces came in two halves that snapped together. You were supposed to fill the necklace with magic potting soil and plant a flower seed and put the necklace in the sun to make the flower grow. There was also a greenhouse toy that you also could grow the flower seeds in. The greenhouse was a pink base, pink house and pink roof."
Linda

UPDATE!!!
Thanks
to Robin who ID-ed this toy as Nature's Nursery, produced by ToyBiz in 1994 and sent this image.

ID#80

Mag emailed me this doll description:

"I'm looking for a doll I had when I was a child. Her name on the box was Sweet Annie. She was got for me in the mid-late 80's. She was about 20" tall, soft bodied, soft vinyl limbs, long soft curly blond/light brown hair, her face looked hand painted really delicately. Also I can remember her having a sweet, maybe vanilla smell. She wore a baby pink and white dress and white Mary-Jane style (I think) shoes. I have searched and searched the net for her but to no avail. I would really, truly appreciate it if you could tell me where she comes from and where Ii can purchase her."
Thanks a million, Mag

UPDATE!!!
Nicki emailed to say "the doll on called Sweet Annie is called Sweet Annie. She was part of the Sweet Love series and was manufactured by Plov in the 80's. She came in two different hair colour variations, blonde and brunette. She was made out of vinyl and had open/close eyes with a soft body. Sadly, she does not exist anymore. Even though there are dolls with the same name out there, these are Primitive and have nothing to do with the Sweet Love series."

Hanni emailed me these images and description:

Navia emailed me this doll description:

"Hi I was wondering if you could help me identify a doll I have wanted since I was 4 years old? I remember the doll came with a desk and was supposed to help the child learn to write. She would write letters and say the letters aloud. It had blonde hair as far as I can remember and was a good size doll since my friend used to put baby shoes on her and stroll her around in an actual baby stroller. I would say the doll came out in around 1992."
Navia

UPDATE!!!
Rhi emailed me to identify this doll as Susie Scribbles, produced by Wonderama in 1987. Here is an image of Rhi's own doll.

Sandi emailed me this doll description:

"I do not have a picture of the toy that I am looking for, but I do have a description. I would like to find this toy, as well as any information that I might be able to get on it. It was a house in shape of a pumpkin, which opened up and had a lift to the two floors and moat round the outside came with people, horses and furniture. Can you help me find it or get some information on it?"
Thanks! Jennifer

Ian identified this toy as Magic Pumpkin, produced by French company Vulli, confirmed by Jennifer. Vulli also marketed Palitoy's Tree Tots Tree House in France and other parts of Europe, the figures were the same in both toys. The Tree Tots Tree House was marketed by Kenner in USA.

ID#74

Dylan emailed me this image and description:

"These figures are from the early to mid-90s. They're a pair of soft plastic animal figures with long hair for tails. They have purple, eyelashy bedroom eyes. They are about the size of the average vintage Littlest Pet Shop figure, and the only marking they have on the bottom, on their undersides, is CHINA."
Thanks for helping!

ID#73

Janice emailed me this doll description:

"In the late 70's or early 80's my daughter and her cousin played with a doll that I would love to find the name of. It looked like a doll with a very long skirt. Under the skirt was a dollhouse. You took the doll out of the top of the dollhouse and detached the skirt to play with her in the dollhouse. I think the skirt was pink and blue with white polka dots. The dollhouse had a kitchen, bedroom, etc. Thanks for your help. I love your website!"
Janice

UPDATE!!!
Andrea and Megan both emailed me to say

ID#72

Lyns emailed me this toy description:

"The doll I need naming looked very similar to a Pin y Pon figure (see ID-ed toys), about 2 inches high, but generally had realistic colours. They came in both genders and had a tiny hole on their tummy so that you could pop on 2D clothes. The clothes were sticker stuck on to flat plastic. You could buy a water theme park/house for them to live in. There were smaller versions (without clothes) they had little playsets, I remember a supermarket and a restaurant. I think I was 7-10 ish so they would be from 1986-1990 roughly! Any ideas? Bought in the UK."
Thanks, Lyns

UPDATE!!!
Ruth emailed me to say she believes these dolls were called Poppets, and says "I had a bus that converted into a restaurant and a Beetle car that changed into a sweet shop, they were really cool." Lyns confirmed that Poppets are the toys she is searching for.

ID#68

Brooke emailed be this description:

"I never owned this toy, but as a kid in the early '80s use to see commercials (seemed more like the type of commercial that you had to order away for the toy, as if they weren't sold in stores) for this soft toy made of a single piece of fabric, and it had snaps sewn in all over it, and included an instruction book that told you in what order to snap together the snaps to make a whole bunch of different animals."
Thanks, Brooke

UPDATE!!!
Brian emailed me to ID this toy as a Snapazoo. Here's a good link to find out more: www.snapazoo.com.

ID#67

Veronica emailed me this image and description:

"I have these dolls from when I was a little girl. I recently got them out of storage and cannot find what they are? I thought they were somehow related to Strawberry Shortcake but now I'm thinking not. These dolls are the same height as SS dolls and I think they did used to have a small scent. They have almost all the same features as SS dolls. I have had these since early 80's when I was a little girl and I have had them since the same time as when I had my SS dolls.
Unlike the Strawberry Shortcake dolls that have writing and year made on the base of the neck these dolls only have "Hong Kong" written on their backs with no other numbers or words. Also, the body of the doll is made of what seems cheaper plastic than the SS dolls."
Thanks, Veronica

UPDATE!!!
Ashley, Kiruh and Julie all emailed me to say these dolls are called Flower Dolls. There may have only been these three produced, but that's as much as I can discover.

If you have any more information about Flower Dolls then please email me.

ID#65

Rosey emailed me two doll descriptions, one of which has now been identified:

"I have two things I need help with actually. The first dolls I have a picture of (below). I happened to find them on Ebay, however the seller did not know much about them.
All the seller knew was that the dolls had 1988 on their backs and the letters M.I.I. (Meritus), the last thing she stated was that the dolls were just a tad over three inches.
I am hoping that you can tell me something about them.
Thanks, Rosey

UPDATE!!!
Marci emailed me to identfy these dolls as Lil' Tots.

Angela emailed me this doll's image and description:

"Hi, I have a doll from 1988, Hasbro INC, and 17". I haven't the faintest idea what she could be. If this helps, it says on the back of her neck that she is made in China. I have no idea what kind of doll she is, but I have been researching and saw that she looks much like the "My Beautiful Doll", Marissa or a brunette Kimberly (if there is such a thing). Also note she is not wearing her original clothes, but hand made clothes."
Angela

UPDATE!!!
Both Mara and Marci confirmed this doll to be "Marissa" My Beautiful Doll produced by Hasbro.

Julia emailed me this description:

"Hi! I've been looking on the internet for ages now for this toy/bag that was available I think around the late 80s early 90s. I don't have mine anymore, and can't find any pictures or references.
I'm sure it was called Doofles, and mine was purple/pink and rectangular with big eyes, arms that could come together with velcro, and legs that were black and white stripy with plastic removable shoes. It was quite big, and as you carried it, it sort of was long enough to almost walk along with you. The compartment was fastened together with a bit of velcro. I saw others in shops at the time that had a mini doofles with them too.
Thanks for any help you could give!"
J

UPDATE!!!
The only mention of Doofles bags I have found state they were produced by Imagination Factory in 1998 and were 13" high - Julia confirmed this was her toy.

Amy emailed me this image and description:

"I have a doll that I can not remember the name of. I had several of them when I was a child, it would have been in the early to mid-80's.
She is about 4-5 inches tall, her arms and legs do not move. She is made out of a hard rubber (pvc) material. They came with a bathing suit and shoes painted on but also had rubber type outfits (kinda like old bigger polly pockets). They had short hair that was also painted on.
Plz help me I.D. her!!"
Amy

Both Megan and Karen emailed me to say this little doll is from a series called Lil' Me produced by Schaper.

Go to my Lil' Me page.

Cassandra emailed me with three images and descriptions, two of which have now been identified:

"I have a few tiny dolls and a doll part. I searched the internet for them for a week now and I can't find out what they are called."

"The picture shows two little figures. I know they are made by Knickerbocker in 1979, but I cannot find out what they are called."

UPDATE!!!
Tiffany emailed me to say these figures are called Pop'em People, and also says:

"They had different themed playsets that came with vehicles & people. The people were different colours with round sticker faces. When you turned their heads a little piece of plastic came out on top of head (like in the picture) & you could stack them on top of each other because they also had holes on the bottom. The holes were also used to keep them on the vehicles & in the playset seats. I have a treehouse playset & I know there was an airport playset among others. Hope this helps!!"
Tiffany

"This picture shows a plastic tube with a bell on each side. There is a red headed girl picture in the center. I can just make out the writing of 1978 B.M.C.O.
I thought it belonged to a Raggedy Ann doll, but I don't have one of those. Any idea what this item is, what it is for and to whom it belongs?"

UPDATE!!!
Several people have emailed me to say that this item is indeed a Raggady Ann accessory, and that BMCO stands for Bobbs Merrill Company, which produced these toys. This particular accessorey threaded onto toddlers shoe laces.

Melissa emailed be this pony description:

"I had a bunch of smaller (perhaps 5 inches tall or so, just a smidgen taller than My Little Ponies) hard bodied plastic horses. They came in various colours with rooted manes and tails. They had snap-on saddles that were made of rigid plastic with a cushion on top (generally a velour like material for the body of the cushion and some type of ric-rac or lace trim around the cushion). They were sold on cards in much the same fashion as My Little Ponies were, but they were definitely NOT My Little Pony toys. They were not the Dream Beauties by Hasbro, they were quite a bit smaller."
Melissa K.

UPDATE!!!
Several people have emailed me to say these ponies are from a series called Enchanted Kingdom, which after viewing and image Melissa confirms are her ponies. They were produced by Marchon (who also made Fantasy Fillies and Grand Champion ponies), but as there is nothing on the internet about them I can't add them to my site yet.

If you have any images I can use to create a page then please email me.

Joe emailed me this very short description of a doll he is looking for:

"My wife had a doll that was lost in a move and I was wondering if you might know what it is. it was a doll that smelled like marshmallows had a blue face. It was given to her in the 80's. Can you help?"
Joe

Several people emailled me to say this doll is a

Sam emailed me this description:

"I was wondering if you could help me identify a toy I have. It was made by Tomy. It was a small battery operated chick that had sensors on the base so when you held it in your hand it cheeped at you. I think it was called a 'Palm Pet' but I really can't remember. There was a range of these pets that included a dog, a kitten & a rabbit."
Sam

UPDATE!!!
Tomy confirmed that this toy is indeed a Palm Pet and that they were discontinued in the early 90's.

Kim emailed me this doll's image and description:

"I remember having this doll since I was a kid, and I want to sell her, but I can't until I figure out what she is. I have tried doing research on the internet and I haven't even gotten any leads. Here is a description:
First of all, she has two different copyright years. Her head says 'IDEAL copyright 1984 CBS Inc H-432' while her back says 'Copyright 1974 IDEAL toy Corp TNT-14-8-34 32'.
Her head can rotate and her eyes (blue) close when laid down, but the rest of her is solid. Nothing else is jointed. Her mouth has a little hole in it like it was meant to put a bottle in or something. She is approximately 12 1/2' high.
She is pretty white in colour with blond hair. Who is she? Thanks"
Kim

If you know anything about this doll then please email me.

UPDATE!!!
Jana emailed me to say this is a Tiny Tears doll, which I agree with. On compairing images, Kim also agreed that they looked like her doll.

ID#46

Kimi emailed me this description:

"I was wondering if anyone could help me identify a set of dolls. They were babies, about 4 inch in height. Their bodies were hollow plastic, but soft to the touch, matte, poseable and chubby. There was a group of them, and had clothes and playsets you could buy as well. Their legs and arms weren't straight, but positioned as a baby would have them. They came out around the time Bouncin' Babies I think, maybe late 80's. The two I remember having for sure were white girls, one had shoulder length, straight blond hair the other had red, curly hair. There were others too, including boys. Can anyone help?? Thanks."
Kimi

UPDATE!!!
Kimi emailed me to say she had identified her doll as Love-A-Bye Baby, produced my Hasbro in 1987.

Mary emailed me this description:

"Hello! I have been looking for a certain stuffed animal and I cannot find it anywhere! It was a white rabbit stuffed animal with long ears and at the top of it's head it had a little compartment that held lip gloss. I loved this stuffed animal and I really hope you can find the name and if there is some place I can get one! Thanks so much!"

Lana emailed me with this description:

"I have to find out what the name of these dolls are. They were made in 1988 by Hasbro. They were 18" tall, fully poseable, thanks to the way there limbs were attached. Each limb was attached by black elastic cord. The head was also attached this way. I believe that these dolls came with a locket containing a picture of themselves on one side and a place for our picture on the other side. These dolls remind me of the American Girl Dolls. I hope someone can help. I have found several of these dolls on E-bay but no one has a name for them. Thanks."
Lana

Mel also emailed me about these dolls and included three images of her own dolls in the hope someone may recognise them.

UPDATE!!!
These dolls are from a series called My Beautiful Doll produced by Hasbro in 1989.

Kitty emailed me this description:

"Hi, I had a couple of dolls from a series when I was a kid - probably on the early end of the 80's. They were cat people - humanoid body and human/feline faces, and they were dressed and named by region. I had French and Russian dolls (don't remember the names!) which were white with purple clothing and red with black clothing respectively. They had soft bodies, covered in fur, and hard plastic faces/paws. I think they were somewhere between 6 - 9 inches tall. I've been trying to figure out what they were for years! Any ideas? Thanks."

Jennifer emailed me this description:

"I had a doll when I was younger. It had something to do with sisters. There was a older sister a middle sister and a baby sister. There were different sets, I remember one had brown hair and the other had blonde. I can not remember the name of them and that is what I need to figure out. They came as a 3 pack or individual and all came with a charm that had a picture of the "family" They were bigger then Barbie and were bendable but covered in nylon.
Please help me name them if you can. Thanks"
Jennifer

UPDATE!!!
Jana and another Jennifer both emailed me to identify these dolls as Always Sisters, produced by Kenner in 1988.

Tori emailed me this image of her doll and description:

"Hi, I think i got this doll when I was around 7 which would have been 1995 but I think I may have had one that broke before I got this one around the earlier 90s. She had blonde hair and blue eyes and a soft body with hard plastic for half of her arms and legs. She came wearing the one piece suit in the picture which was pink and had a teddy bear on it. She had a dummy in her mouth and I think she might have cried when you took it out. The name Hush-a-bye kind of rings a bell but I'm not sure. I really want to know the proper name as I want to find one for my daughter and I have no idea what to search for. Thanks."
Tori

UPDATE!!!
Thanks to Angel who identified this doll as Hush Little Baby, produced by Tonka in 1990. There was a button in her mouth which made her cry when her bottle or dummy was removed. She also had eyes which moved from side to side.

ID#40

Tim emailed me this image from ebay and description:

"Hi there I hope you can help me out. This is this picture of an odd winged unicorn from an ebay auction I was trying to win but didn't. From the sellers description it stands about 5 1/2 inches tall and 7 1/2 inches long. The wings are movable and that's all she put in the description. She said it's been in storage since the 90s but didn't say anything about any markings on it. I hope you can help. Thanks"

Whispers emailed me this bear image and description:

"I recently found a stuffed animal at a thrift store and was wondering if you could help ID it. It looks like a Popple but it's not. The tag on it is very very faded so I can't read it but I think it says "Snuggle Love TM" and maybe says it was made in 1984."
Thank you, Whispers

UPDATE!!!
Whispers emailed me to say she has now confirmed this bear to be a Snuggle Loves, made by AmToy/American Greetings in 1987.

If you know anything about this series then please email me, as there is nothing on the web about them.

"I need your help about my childhood toy. Thank you a lot and congratulations about the site!"
Kiki

UPDATE!!!
Path, Debbie and Teresa all emailed me to identify these dolls as Pin y Pon! ID#36

Racheal emailed me with this doll description:

Amy emailed me with this doll description:

"I have been searching for a group of dolls I had sometime between 1980-1984(?). They were about 4-6 inches tall. They were thin, almost like miniature Barbie dolls. They were rubbery, and I think the legs were bendable. They each came with flat, clear stands (about the size of a quarter, maybe a little bigger) with two prongs - each doll had a hole in the bottom of each foot to secure it to the stand. The women had very long, wavy hair. Their clothes were removable, but not the shoes. (You could pop the heads off and switch them to "change" their shoes.) They had different sets, like a beach scene set, a fashion show set, etc.
I don't ever remember seeing anyone else with the same dolls, but I had a bunch of them, so I know there were at least several different sets out there. I grew up in central Texas, USA, if that helps at all. Any advice you could provide would be greatly appreciated!! I'd love to see if I could find one online somewhere, or at least know what they were called."
Amy

UPDATE!!!
Hannah emailed to identify these dolls as Glamour Gals, which were produced by Kenner.

Jana and Lara Dowling emailed me this image of their ponies.

"These horses were from the 80s and came in two sizes - the big and little shown. The small ones were about the size of my little pony petite ponies. Both sizes came in a variety of colours and had molded-on clothes. They are stamped 'Copyright MT 1988'."

UPDATE!!!
Kimberly emailed me to say these ponies are from a series called Little Beauties.

Unfortunately I have as yet not been able to find out anything more about this series on the internet, and the search term "Little Beauties" brings up a particularly interesting array of items (none of which are to do with ponies)!

If you know anything more about these toys then please email me.

Jill emailed me this image and says:

"I found the pic. This was a Strawberry Shortcake knock-off. It was in a tiny box, maybe 3-4 inches tall and had a bead filling and this one smelled like apples. I know there were other characters but can't remember what they are. I believe I received this 1983-85 from my grandma. I can't make out the name on the box. I found this on ebay years ago but the seller wouldn't respond to any of my questions."
Jill

UPDATE!!!
Immeruth emailed me to ID this little doll as a Fruit Scented Matchpack produced by Fun World. Unfortunatly there is no date attached to these dolls, of which there were at least three made: Apple Pie, Berry Pie and Peach Pie. Their boxes were 3"x2"

If you know anything more about these toys then please email me.

These little toys were sent in by Jenn, who says:

"Hi, I was wondering about a couple small dolls I found with my old stuff. I've had them since the early 90s, so I'm not actually sure if they're from the 80s, but pretty close. I had 3 at one point, but lost one as a child. I remember it being in a crawling position, wearing a pink diaper. All of the dolls are very small, about the size of my thumb [but a little wider]. They are hard plastic, with moveable arms, legs and heads, and fake hair pigtails, with plastic bows that are painted onto the heads. All of these that I've ever seen have had black hair.
Also, each one has something different about it, for example, the one in the purple came with a bottle, and her arms move up and down together to make her drink. The one in the pink dress has very loose legs, and came with a walker on wheels. Each one also has a dark pink/fuchsia coloured bracelet with a logo on it on one wrist. When I got them, they came with a pink plastic dollhouse, 2 stories, very simple, with some sticker furniture & paintings on the walls, as well as coming with simple plastic furniture and 2 kittens. Thanks a bunch!"
Jenn

UPDATE!!!
These little dolls are from a series called Baby Buddies by Kenner. They were sets of babies and pets with various small accessories.

The pets and pet accessories are most probably from Kenner's Littlest Pet Shop, but could also have been sold as Baby Buddies.

There is very little about Baby Buddies on the internet so if you know anything about them or have any images I can use to compile a page them please email me!

Rhi emialed me this image and description:

"Hi! I've been trying to identify this for years. It's two matching dolls, one large, one small. (The large one had the same pink stripes on the front as the small; they just rubbed off.) The backs are marked "LGTI 1990", which I assume is Lewis Galoob Toys. I have a vague recollection of them coming with a swimming pool playset that had a large pool for the big doll, and an attached tiny pool for the little doll. There may have been other sets as well, but I only got the swimming pool set. Please help! I'd love to get the set again!"

Tracy emailed me this description:

"Can you ID these dolls? I had the first one in 1972 and my last in approx 1983. I have about six. They were known as dressing table dolls. Some were dressed in National costume; but most were just dressed as pretty ladies with big hats and parasols. The biggest one is around 1ft high; she has shoes fixed to a stand but all the others just have like nylon stuffed legs fixed to stands. Their faces are painted on a polystyrene ball with has a silky thread covering it. They all have long pinned up hair & full face make up.
I put them on ebay a while ago but within minutes I had 25 watchers so I removed them. I haven't seen them on any collectable doll site all the web."

Question
"Hi, I am desperately searching for a doll I had in the mid to late 80s. I called her Tuggy, but don't know if that was her real name. She had pink braided hair with purple ribbons down the centre of each braid. If you pulled the ribbon, her braid would bunch up to the top of her head. Any direction would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!!!"
Daniella

UPDATE!!!
Elia and Daniella herself emailed me to say this doll is called Tuggabows, produced by AmToy in 1986.

Question
"I am trying to find a doll I had in the early eighties. She was soft bodied and wore a white nightgown with lace trim and a white bonnet I think. She came with a brown plastic cot that looked as though it was carved from a tree log. The cot had little doors and windows in the bottom for fairies or elves to live in. The advert was an animation of her in the woods with fairies or elves looking after her, a sort of babes in the wood idea. I would love to know what it’s called or where I can find a picture of it. Many thanks."
Rachael

UPDATE!!!
Lauren emailed me to say this doll is from a series called Boo Boos Care. They were produced by Hornby in 1985/6 and based on illustrations by Mabel Lucie Attwell. They are quite rare now and I've only been able to find one image of the toys produced:

If you know anything about this series then please email me as all I know is what was written on the back of the packaging.

Question
"I am looking for the name of a doll I had as a child in the early 90's. She was a princess and she had on a white dress and white shoes. I think maybe you could change the dress to a pink one. The big thing about this doll was she had a projector in her head. The crown covered it up. When you turned her on, her head would project pictures on the ceiling, there were flowers and hearts and roses. I would really like to know the name of this doll. It was one of my favourites as a child and I would like to get one for my little girl, thank you."
Mrs. Kirstin Grimes

UPDATE!!!

Sarah Miller emailed me to say this doll is called Starbright Sparkles, and belonged to the PJ Sparkles line produced by Mattel. Sarah remembers the song from the commercial to be:

"Starbright Sparkles - when you spin her crown, see the colour go round. You fill my world with love.
When I go to sleep tonight, I know your love will shine so bright. Starbright Sparkles"

Question
"I was wondering if you could help me ID a doll I have been searching for. It was made in the 90's and they came out around the time of "Fairy Tale: A True Story" movie. They came with a cute little stand, and the one I had carried a green lantern, and had dark purple or blue hair, and I BELIEVE she came with a cute stand in the shape of a mushroom?, They had glittery skin, and airy little skirts. I don't know if they were from the movie, or just came out around the same time, but I would love to find out what they are called. Thank you so much for your help."
Jaime

UPDATE!!!
Elia emailed me to say that these dolls are called Fairies of Cottingley Glen.

They were produced by Playmates in 1997 and you can find out more about them at www.darah.com (where the above image was found) and at Toys N Toons.

Question
"
I had an 80's doll that was part of a series about girls with extremely long hair. I think they lived in a magic forest and fought creatures called "Snarls". There may have been one cartoon special, I don't think it became a series. The set of dolls was fairly short-lived. They might also have had magic pets with long detachable tails, like some kind of ferret or cat creature."
Erin

UPDATE!!!
Kimberly emailed me to say that this description sounds like Lady Lovely Locks (not sure how I missed that one!) and Erin has confirmed that it is indeed the toy she was trying to find.

Question
"I used to have these plastic flowers, in pots. When you pour water into the pot, the petals of the flower open up to reveal a small doll. The flowers, including the pot were about 6 inches tall. The dolls were only an inch and a half or so.

"They are '80s toys probably prior to '85 if I remember correctly. They were not uber popular toys, however, in my group of friends, they were definitely the toys to have! Also, I don't know if this might help at all, but I believe they were purchased from K Mart. I don't recall seeing them at any other stores. I really hope you or one of your visitors will be able to help me. Thank you so much!"

UPDATE!!!
Denise emailed me to say that she believes these dolls to be Luv Buds produced by Buddy L in 1982. There is next to nothing about this series on the internet, and the search term "Luv Bud" brings up a particularly interesting array of items!

The left image was sent in by Shelley, who describes her doll as 10cm high and marked Mattel - 1993.

UPDATE!!!
"Discover our mini secret surprises. We have secrets in our hair!"
Elia emailed me to say these dolls are from a series called "Lil' Secrets". Each doll came with something hidden in their hair and some were scented. They were produced in 1993-95 by Mattel. Unfortunately there is very little information on the internet about them to expand any further, but at least I now know what they are!

If you know any more about these dolls then please email me.

These toys were sent in by Cindy, who says:

"They have no markings in the mould to tell me who made it. Each doll came with a comb, a locket and a matching accessory. I have a birthday toy and 2 punk rocker toys. Their faces are made of plastic and their bodies are entirely made of hair. On the back of them, there is a long velcro strip that you can use to put them on your wrist. I hope someone can help me. I've had these since I was little and the name eludes my sister and I. Thanks in advance!!"

This bunny image was sent in by Ian, who says:

"I vaguely remember them, from the late 80's, they were made by Galoob, but as you can see from the photo, I think this is a foreign version judging from the writing on its bib. I think it must have at some point had a baby bottle to make it do stuff, and I think the batteries must have gone in the bottle, as there is no where to put batteries in the toy itself. So I hope you or someone out there can help me!"

The text on the bib is French and literally translates to "cuddly toys tenderness".

UPDATE!!!
A little bit if research found that this bunny is from a series called Lost 'n Found. They were produced in 1989 by Galoob and were about 11 inches high. There were also other animals (cat, lion, koala) and when the bottle was placed in its mouth and their bellies pressed it caused them to cry!

Go to my Lost 'n Found page.

ID#11

This image was sent in by Amy. The doll and shoe are made by Mattel and dated 1987. The doll is 2.5 Inched high (not including hair) and the shoe is 3 inches high.

UPDATE!!!
Thanks to Jennifer who emailed me to say these toys are NOT from a set called Caboodles (as previously identified), but are actually from a series called Wee Wild Things, which I shall be compiling a page for soon!

Each doll came with a small playset, and there were also at least three larger ones (of which this is one). The shoe to the left is the High Top Beauty Shop playset which came with the doll pictured next to it along with a variety of smaller accessories.

Go to my Wee Wild Things page.

This image was sent in by Kelly. It is a small Ice Cream Cone (shown next to a Baby My Little Pony for size) and may have come with a scented doll (not Strawberry Shortcake, Cupcake Dolls or Cherry Merry Muffin as far as I can tell).

UPDATE!!!
By pure chance I discovered that this toy is as an accessory which came with a My Precious Puff.

Go to my My Precious Puff page.

This image was sent in by Suzi, who describes her as 4.5 inches high with no manufacturers markings. She had jointed limbs, stars in her eyes, a green flower in her belly button and a slight green tinge to her body. Her main hair is molded with a central piece of brushable hair sprouting from the top!

She looks more 90's that 80's to me. It is also interesting to note that her pose means she can't stand up on her own and look like she should be holding something.

UPDATE!!!
Ian emailed to say that this doll is from Magic Merbabies. They were produced by Hasbro in the mid 90's. There is not much information available online about them, so perhaps were not a well sold series. There seem to have been at least two playsets which came with dolls as well as the dolls sold separately with lots of accessories.

Angela adds - "I have several of these dolls, they came with a removable fabric tail with a tiny pocket in the front that held a fizzy tablet that changed the water colour. There was at least one playset for these which I have, called "Magic Water Palace" which is a bath toy. In addition to the small dolls as shown on your photo there are larger barbie size-ish dolls as well."

If you know anything more about Magic Merbabies then please email me so I can create a page!

ID#8

Clare sent in this picture a Groom Doll. He came with a Bride who had pink hair. Does anyone remember what they were called?

UPDATE!!!
Thanks to Karen and Ru who both wrote to say this doll is from a series called Ice Cream Dolls produced by Wisconsin Toy Company in the mid 80's. They were recalled in 1988 due to choking hazards (they each came with a small ice-cream cone around their necks).

They came in various sizes up to 24 inches and had yarn hair. They were mass produced in many different styles and as such seemed to have no individual names. There were also a lot of knock-offs produced by various other companies.

Jacc emailed me this description:

"I am on a mission to find information and pictures of the large boot, similar to the Big Yellow Teapot produced by Bluebird. Not Matchbox's School Boot but very similar, probably made by Bluebird. It is a light brown colour as apposed to the bright harsh yellow of the school boot. The inside is laid out like a house. Can you help me at all?"
Jacc

Theresa also emailed me about this toy:

!I too am looking for information on the house in the shape of a boot. I think it was made either by Playskool or Fisher Price may not have been either. None of my friends can remember it. Please help!!!!
Thanks, Theresa

UPDATE!!!
Thanks to Kate who emailed me two of these images of Matchbox's Playboot. Matchbox produced several Playboots from the mid 70's to the mid 80's using the same mould but in different colours. Two were laid out like a school and one was laid out like a house.

UPDATE!!!
Linda
wrote to say these dolls were also called Lil Lollypops, possibly produced by AG Toys and also produced under the name of Daisy Dolls. Linda pointed me to two being sold on eBay and after contacting the seller Ray I now know the names of all six dolls from the Lil Lollypops set. Daisy Dolls and Lil Lollypops were all written in English and the Sweetie Pops were written in English and French. It seems that depending on which country the doll was sold in, the series had a different name!

If you know anything more about the Sweetie Pops / Lil Lollypops / Daisy Dolls series then please email me.

Question
"Does anyone remember this doll? She was a perfume scented doll that either lived inside a plastic perfume bottle or a plastic genie bottle. The bottle would fold open and the toy would be there. I think that was around the early 90's or something."

UPDATE!!!
Suzi wrote to say that she thought it might be a "Honeysuckle Kologne" Liddle Kiddle which were made by Mattel c1969. On further research I found that Liddle Kiddles were re-produced by Tyco in the 90's and included a series called "Pretty Perfume". There were also Bottle Babies and Lovely Lockets amongst other items.

Megan emailed me to say that this dog is called Barkley and is from the Sesame Street Crew. He was made by Fisher Price

2. The little bear is a Paw Paw and wants to know which character she is!

Christopher confirmed this figure to actually be Laughing Paw.

Unfortunately I haven't been able to find out much about the toys produced to go along side the cartoon series, so if you know anything about them please email me.

3.Ugly little man!
