Do you have an 80's toy you can't identify?
If so, email me a picture or two, plus a description
and I'll see if I can find out what it is. If I don't
know, I'll post the pictures and description here and
maybe someone else will (in which case, please email
me).
Below is a list of toys which have
been identified! Please take a look as some toys I am
still searching for information on and you may be able
to help!

Whispers emailed me this bear image and description:
"I recently
found a stuffed animal at a thrift
store and was wondering if you could help ID it.
It looks like a Popple but it's not. The tag on
it is very very faded so I can't read it but I think
it says "Snuggle Love TM"
and maybe says it was made in 1984."
Thank you, Whispers
UPDATE!!!
Whispers emailed me to say she has now
confirmed this bear to be a Snuggle
Loves, made by AmToy/American Greetings
in 1987.
If you know anything
about this series then please email
me, as there is nothing on the web about them. |

Kimi emailed me this description:
"I was wondering
if anyone could help me identify a set of dolls.
They were babies, about 4 inch
in height. Their bodies were hollow plastic,
but soft to the touch, matte, poseable
and chubby. There was a group of them, and had clothes
and playsets you could buy as well. Their
legs and arms weren't straight, but positioned as a baby
would have them. They came out around the time Bouncin'
Babies I think, maybe late 80's. The two I remember having
for sure were white girls, one had shoulder length, straight
blond hair the other had red, curly hair. There were others
too, including boys. Can anyone help?? Thanks."
Kimi
UPDATE!!!
Kimi emailed me to say she had identified her
doll as Love-A-Bye Baby, produced my
Hasbro in 1987.

Jennifer emailed me this description:
"I had a doll
when I was younger. It had something to do with sisters.
There was a older sister a middle
sister and a baby sister. There
were different sets, I remember one had
brown hair and the other had blonde.
I can not remember the name of them and that is what I
need to figure out. They came as a 3 pack
or individual and all came with a charm
that had a picture of the "family"
They were bigger then Barbie and were
bendable but covered in nylon.
Please help me name them if you can. Thanks"
Jennifer
UPDATE!!!
Jana and another Jennifer both emailed me to
identify these dolls as Always Sisters,
produced by Kenner in 1988. |

Tim emailed me
this image from ebay and description:
"Hi there I
hope you can help me out. This is this picture of
an odd winged unicorn
from an ebay auction I was trying to win but didn't.
From the sellers description it stands about 5
1/2 inches tall and 7 1/2 inches
long. The wings are movable
and that's all she put in the description. She said
it's been in storage since the 90s but didn't say
anything about any markings on it. I hope you can
help. Thanks"
UPDATE!!!
Mayanbutterfly & Amanda both emailed
me to identify this pony as Lavander from
Star Fairies.
She came as part of a playset with the Star Coach. |

Amy emailed me with this doll description:
"I have been searching
for a group of dolls I had sometime between
1980-1984(?). They were about 4-6
inches tall. They were thin,
almost like miniature Barbie dolls. They
were rubbery, and I think the legs
were bendable. They each came with flat,
clear stands (about the size of a quarter, maybe
a little bigger) with two prongs - each doll had a hole
in the bottom of each foot to secure it to the stand.
The women had very long, wavy hair. Their
clothes were removable, but not the shoes.
(You could pop the heads off and switch them to "change"
their shoes.) They had different sets, like a beach
scene set, a fashion show set,
etc.
I don't ever remember seeing anyone else with the same
dolls, but I had a bunch of them, so I know there were
at least several different sets out there. I grew up in
central Texas, USA, if that helps at all. Any advice you
could provide would be greatly appreciated!! I'd love
to see if I could find one online somewhere, or at least
know what they were called."
Amy
UPDATE!!!
Hannah emailed to identify these dolls as Glamour
Gals, which were produced by Kenner. |

Kiki emailed me these doll images
and description:
"I need your
help about my childhood toy. The facts I remember
are that their body/clothes had
a variety of colours, their hat/hair
could be removed like a cup so
that I could put an other colour hat on and make
different combinations and also they had a house.
Thank you a lot and congratulations about the site!"
Kiki
UPDATE!!!
Path, Debbie and Teresa all emailed me
to identify these dolls as Pin y Pon!
Teresa also said "they were made by a company
called Famosa and there were lots of different characters,
sets, animals, accessories, etc. They were the
toy of the 80's in Spain - anyone who grew up in
Spain during that period would remember them!"

Tracy emailed me this description:
"Can you ID these dolls? I had
the first one in 1972 and my last in approx 1983. I
have about six. They were known as dressing
table dolls. Some were dressed in National
costume; but most were just dressed as pretty
ladies with big hats and parasols. The biggest
one is around 1ft high; she has shoes fixed
to a stand but all the others just have like
nylon stuffed legs fixed to stands.
Their faces are painted on a polystyrene ball
with has a silky thread covering it.
They all have long pinned up hair & full face make
up.
I put them on ebay a while ago but within minutes I
had 25 watchers so I removed them. I haven't seen them
on any collectable doll site all the web."
Tracy
UPDATE!!!
I was emailed identifying these dolls as Bradley's
Dolls. For more information on them visit Doll
Kind, who have a page on them.

This image was sent in by Kelly.
It is a small Ice Cream Cone
(shown next to a Baby My Little Pony for size)
and may have come with a scented doll (not Strawberry
Shortcake, Cupcake Dolls or Cherry Merry Muffin
as far as I can tell).
UPDATE!!!
By pure chance I discovered that this toy
is as an accessory which came with a My
Precious Puff.

Racheal emailed me with this doll description:
"I found a little
doll, about 4.5 inches,
that is marked KPT 1986. She is a girl,
but has a butterfly body and butterfly
wings. She has long blue hair.
Any ideas?"
Rachael in Florida
UPDATE!!!
Identified as a Shimmers
doll!

Jill emailed me this image and says:
"I found the
pic. This was a Strawberry
Shortcake knock-off. It was in a tiny box,
maybe 3-4 inches tall and had a
bead filling and this one smelled like apples.
I know there were other characters
but can't remember what they are. I believe I received
this 1983-85 from my grandma. I
can't make out the name on the box. I found this
on ebay years ago but the seller wouldn't respond
to any of my questions."
Jill
UPDATE!!!
Immeruth emailed me to ID this little doll
as a Fruit Scented Matchpack produced
by Fun World. Unfortunatly there is no date attached
to these dolls, of which there were at least three
made: Apple Pie, Berry Pie and Peach Pie. Their
boxes were 3"x2"
If you know anything
more about these toys then please email
me. |

Kerry emailed me six toys for I-Ding,
two of which have now been confirmed.
- Left Image ~ Path
emailed to ID this toy as Mudpuppy
from the Sweet

Question
" I had an 80's doll
that was part of a series about girls with extremely
long hair. I think they lived in a magic
forest and fought creatures called "Snarls".
There may have been one cartoon special,
I don't think it became a series. The set of dolls was
fairly short-lived. They might also have had magic
pets with long detachable tails,
like some kind of ferret or cat creature."
Erin
UPDATE!!!
Kimberly emailed me to
say that this description sounds like Lady Lovely
Locks (not sure how I missed that one!) and
Erin has confirmed that it is indeed the toy she was
trying to find.

 |
Jana and Lara Dowling emailed me this image of
their ponies.
"These horses
were from the 80s and came in
two sizes - the big and little
shown. The small ones were about the size of my
little pony petite ponies. Both sizes came in
a variety of colours and had
molded-on clothes. They are stamped
'Copyright MT 1988'."
UPDATE!!!
Kimberly emailed
me to say these ponies are from a series called
Little Beauties.
Unfortunately
I have as yet not been able to find out anything
more about this series on the internet, and the
search term "Little Beauties" brings
up a particularly interesting array of items (none
to do with ponies)!
If you know anything more about
these toys then please email
me.

These little toys were sent in by Jenn,
who says:
 |
 |
"Hi, I was wondering
about a couple small dolls I found with my old stuff.
I've had them since the early 90s, so I'm not actually
sure if they're from the 80s, but pretty close. I had
3 at one point, but lost one as a child. I remember it
being in a crawling position, wearing a pink diaper. All
of the dolls are very small, about the
size of my thumb [but a little wider]. They are hard
plastic, with moveable arms, legs and
heads, and fake hair pigtails,
with plastic bows that are painted onto the heads. All
of these that I've ever seen have had black hair.
Also, each one has something different about it, for example,
the one in the purple came with a bottle, and her arms
move up and down together to make her drink. The one in
the pink dress has very loose legs, and came with a walker
on wheels. Each one also has a dark pink/fuchsia
coloured bracelet with a logo on it on one wrist.
When I got them, they came with a pink plastic
dollhouse, 2 stories, very simple, with some
sticker furniture & paintings on the walls, as well
as coming with simple plastic furniture and 2 kittens. Thanks
a bunch!"
Jenn
UPDATE!!!
These little dolls are from a series called Baby
Buddies by Kenner. They were sets of babies and
pets with various small accessories. The pets and pet
accessories themselves are in the same
style as Littlest Pet Shop and are often
mistaken for them. In this case I cannot confirm that
the accessories above are actually from Baby Buddies,
so may indeed be from Littlest Pet Shop.
There is very little about these toys
on the internet so if you know anything about them or
have any images I can use to compile a page them please
email
me!

These toys were sent in
by Cindy, who says:
"They have
no markings in the mould to tell me
who made it. Each doll came with a comb, a locket
and a matching accessory. I have a birthday
toy and 2 punk rocker toys. Their faces are made of
plastic and their bodies are entirely made of hair.
On the back of them, there is a long velcro
strip that you can use to put them on your
wrist. I hope someone can help me.
I've had these since I was little and the name eludes
my sister and I. Thanks in advance!!"
UPDATE!!!
Lauren emailed me to say this these toys are from a series
called My Precious
Puffs. They were produced by Matchbox in
1987. If you know anything more about this series please
email
me! |

Question
"I am trying to find a doll I had
in the early eighties. She was soft bodied
and wore a white nightgown with lace
trim and a white bonnet I think. She came with a brown
plastic cot that looked as though it was carved
from a tree log. The cot had little doors
and windows in the bottom for fairies
or elves to live in. The advert
was an animation of her in the woods with fairies or elves
looking after her, a sort of babes in the wood idea. I
would love to know what it’s called or where I can find
a picture of it. Many thanks."
Rachael
UPDATE!!!
Lauren emailed me to say this doll is from a series called
Boo Boos Care. They were produced by
Hornby in 1985/6 and based on illustrations by Mabel
Lucie Attwell. They are quite rare now and I've
only been able to find one image of the toys produced:

I have put together a
page for Boo Boo Cares. If you know anything about this
series then please email
me as all I know is what was written on the back of the
packaging. |

Question
"Hi! I've been trying to identify this
for years. It's two matching dolls, one
large, one small. (The large one had the same pink stripes
on the front as the small; they just rubbed off.) The
backs are marked "LGTI 1990",
which I assume is Lewis Galoob Toys.
I have a vague recollection of them coming with a swimming
pool playset that had a large pool for the big
doll, and an attached tiny pool for the little doll. There
may have been other sets as well, but I only got the swimming
pool set. Please help! I'd love to get the set again!"
Rhi
UPDATE!!!
Elia emailed me to say these dolls are from a series called
Secret Places. I have just put together
a page for them, so click <
here > for more information on them!

"Oh my goodness, thank you so much!!! You're amazing;
I've been looking for so long...thank you so much! I really
appreciate your help. :)"

than the original advert. |

Question
"Hi, I am desperately searching for a doll I had
in the mid to late 80s. I called her Tuggy, but don't
know if that was her real name. She had pink braided
hair with purple ribbons down
the centre of each braid. If you pulled the ribbon,
her braid would bunch up to the top of her head.
Any direction would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!!!"
Daniella
UPDATE!!!
Elia and Daniella herself emailed me to say this doll
is called Tuggabows, produced by AmToy.
Here's an image:

Question
"I am looking for the name of a doll
I had as a child in the early 90's.
She was a princess and she had on a
white dress and white shoes.
I think maybe you could change the dress to a pink one.
The big thing about this doll was she had a projector
in her head. The crown
covered it up. When you turned her on, her head would
project pictures on the ceiling, there
were flowers and hearts
and roses. I would really like to know
the name of this doll. It was one of my favourites as
a child and I would like to get one for my little girl,
thank you."
Mrs. Kirstin Grimes
UPDATE!!!
Sarah Miller emailed me to say this
doll is called Starbright Sparkles, and
belonged to the PJ Sparkles line produced
by Mattel. Sarah remembers the song from the commercial
to be:
"Starbright
Sparkles - when you spin her crown, see the colour go
round. You fill my world with love. When I go to sleep
tonight, I know your love will shine so bright. Starbright
Sparkles"

Question
"I used to have these plastic flowers,
in pots. When you pour water into the
pot, the petals of the flower open up
to reveal a small doll. The flowers,
including the pot were about 6 inches tall.
The dolls were only an inch and a half or so.
"They are '80s toys
probably prior to '85 if I remember correctly. They were
not uber popular toys, however, in my group of friends,
they were definitely the toys to have! Also, I don't know
if this might help at all, but I believe they were purchased
from K Mart. I don't recall seeing them at any other stores.
I really hope you or one of your visitors will be able
to help me. Thank you so much!"
Amanda
UPDATE!!!
Denise emailed me to say that she believes these dolls
to be Luv Buds produced by Buddy L in
1982. There is next to nothing about this series on the
internet, and the search term "Luv Bud" brings

Question
"I was wondering if you could help
me ID a doll I have been searching for.
It was made in the 90's and they came
out around the time of "Fairy Tale: A True
Story" movie. They came with a cute
little stand, and the one I had carried a green
lantern, and had dark purple or blue
hair, and I BELIEVE she came with a cute stand
in the shape of a mushroom?, They had
glittery skin, and airy little
skirts. I don't know if they were from the movie,
or just came out around the same time, but I would love
to find out what they are called. Thank you so much for
your help."
Jaime
UPDATE!!!
Elia emailed me to say that these dolls are called Fairies
of Cottingley Glen.

The left image was sent in by
Shelley, who describes her doll as 10cm high and
marked Mattel - 1993.
The group image below is one of
mine from an old eBay sale I did some time ago.
It looks like there were several different dolls
made. They have moulded clothes and colourful
hair.

|
UPDATE!!!
"Discover our mini secret surprises. We
have secrets in our hair!"
Elia emailed me to say these dolls are
from a series called "Lil' Secrets".
Each doll came with something hidden in their hair
and some were scented. They were produced in 1993-95
by Mattel. Unfortunately there is very little information
on the internet about them to expand any further,
but at least I now know what they are!

China and are approximately 2.5 -3" high.

that these baby dinosaurs are from a series called
Darlin' Dinos, which I have just
completed a section for. Take

This bunny image was sent in by Ian, who
says:
"I vaguely remember
them, from the late 80's, they were made by Galoob,
but as you can see from the photo, I think this is a foreign
version judging from the writing on its bib. I think it
must have at some point had a baby bottle
to make it do stuff, and I think the batteries must have
gone in the bottle, as there is no where to put batteries
in the toy itself. So I hope you or someone out there
can help me!"
The text on the bib is
French and literally translates to "cuddly
toys tenderness".
A little bit if research
found that this bunny is from a series called Lost
'n Found. They were produced in 1989 by Galoob
and were about 11 inches high. There were also other animals
(cat, lion, koala) and when the bottle was placed in its
mouth and their bellies pressed it caused them to cry!

This
image was sent in by Amy. The doll and shoe are
made by Mattel and dated 1987. The doll is 2.5
Inched high (not including hair) and the shoe
is 3 inches high.
UPDATE!!!
[Nov 2007]
Thanks to Jennifer who emailed me to say these
toys are NOT from a set called Caboodles (as
previously identified), but are actually from
a series called Wee Wild Things,
which I shall be compiling a page for soon!
Each doll came with a small playset, and there
were also at least three larger ones (of which
this is one). The shoe to the left is the High
Top Beauty Shop playset which came with
the doll pictured next to it along with a variety
of smaller accessories.
If you know anything more about
the Wee Wild Things then please email
me.

This image was sent in by Suzi,
who describes her as 4.5 inches high with no manufacturers
markings. She had jointed limbs, stars in her
eyes, a green flower in her belly button and a
slight green tinge to her body. Her main hair
is molded with a central piece of brushable hair
sprouting from the top!
She looks more 90's that 80's
to me. It is also interesting to note that her
pose means she can't stand up on her own and look
like she should be holding something.
UPDATE!!!
Ian emailed to
say that this doll is from Magic Merbabies.
They were produced by Hasbro in the mid 90's.
There is not much information available online
about them, so perhaps were not a well sold series.
There seem to have been at least two playsets
which came with dolls as well as the dolls sold
separately with lots of accessories.
If you know anything more about
Magic Merbabies then please email
me.

Clare sent
in this picture a Groom Doll. He came with a
Bride who had pink hair. Does anyone remember
what they were called?
UPDATE!!!
Thanks
to Karen and Ru who both wrote to say this doll
is from a series called Ice Cream Dolls
produced by Wisconsin Toy Company in
the mid 80's. They were recalled in 1988 due
to choking hazards (they each came with a small
ice-cream cone around their necks).
They came in various sizes up
to 24 inches and had yarn hair. They were mass
produced in many different styles and as such
seemed to have no individual names. There were
also a lot of knock-offs produced by various
other companies.
If you know anything more about
the Ice Cream Dolls then please
email
me.

UPDATE!!!
Linda wrote to say these dolls were also called
Lil Lollypops, possibly produced by AG
Toys and also produced under the name of Daisy
Dolls. Linda pointed me to two being sold on
eBay and after contacting the seller Ray
I now know the names of all six dolls from the Lil Lollypops
set. Daisy Dolls and Lil Lollypops were all written in
English and the Sweetie Pops were written in English and
French. It seems that depending on which country the doll
was sold in, the series had a different name!
If you know anything more
about the Sweetie Pops / Lil

then please email

Question
"Does anyone remember this doll? She was a perfume
scented doll that either lived inside a plastic
perfume bottle or a plastic genie bottle. The bottle
would fold open and the toy would be there. I think
that was around the early 90's or something."
 |
UPDATE!!!
Suzi wrote to say that she thought it
might be "Honeysuckle Kologne"
Liddle Kiddle which were
made by Mattel c1969. On further research I found
that Liddle Kiddles were re-produced by Tyco in
the 90's and included a series called "Pretty
Perfume". There were also Bottle
Babies and Lovely Lockets amongst other items.

description rings a bell and you don't think its

This cute little
bear was also sent in by Renee,
who said she is a Paw Paw and wanted
to know more!
After a quick search I found out she is called Princess
Paw Paw.
UPDATE!!!
Thanks to Laura who found this on Wikipedia:
Toys
were produced by Applause in
1985. Princess Paw Paw, Brave
Paw, Mighty Paw, Pupooch, Medicine Paw, the Meanos,
and other characters were produced as PVC
figurines ranging from 2"
to 3" tall. The figurines
had accessories, like a canoe
or a cart. Pupooch was also produced
as a plush toy. These toys were
only produced for a short time and are rare today.
Unfortunately
I haven't been able to find out much about the
toys produced to go along side the cartoon series,
so if you know anything about them please email
me.
