Petite Ponies were produced by Hasbro in Year 8 and 9 of the My Little Pony line (1989-91). There were seven different sets plus eight playsets with a total of 78 ponies produced altogether. They had symbols on one side and only the ponies who came with the playsets were given names. Some ponies sold differed colour-wise from their packaging images, most only slightly (their bow colours usually) but a few were completely different. I've included images of the most significant variations out of interest as I don't believe they were ever sold in shops.

There were twelve Petite Bright Sight Ponies produced, released in three sets of four ponies and each set had it's own theme (fruit, wheeled activities and holiday). There were three pegasi, the rest were earth ponies. They had bright coloured bodies and brushable tails. Each pack of four came with one comb. None had names.

There were twelve Petite Glowing Magic Ponies produced, released in three sets of four ponies and had a night theme. There were three pegasi, the rest were earth ponies. They had glow-in-the-dark bodies and brushable tails. Each pack of four came with one comb. None had names.

There were ten Petite Ponytail Ponies produced and they had brushable tails. They were sold in three sets of four, and each set had the same four symbols but on differenly coloured ponies. They also had a variety of hair from straight, to wavy to corkscrew curly. Each set came with one comb. None had names.

There were five Petite Pretty 'n Pearly Ponies produced and they had Pearlized bodies. None had names.

There were six smaller playsets produced and two larger ones. The smaller sets came with one new pony each and the larger sets came with two new ponies each. All playset ponies were given names. In the US most ponies had solid tails, where as in the UK all playset ponies came with brushable tails.

There were three Petite Pony Home. Each one came with its own new pony, and this time they all had names. The playsets varied in colour from their box images and also varied from set to set too.

Prancing Pretty Carousel came with Topper and Whirly. In the UK the ponies had brushable tails, different poses and Topper was a pegasus.
