Popples started life characters in a Saturday morning cartoon that aired in the United States from 1986 to 1987. They were created by Those Characters From Cleveland (TCFC), a subsidiary company of American Greetings, and the plush toys were manufactured by Mattel. Popples became so popular that hoards of plush toys accessories were produced. Popples, like several other toys from the 80's, are still being produced today.
