Rainbow Brite started
life as an animated television series introduced by
Hallmark in 1984. From there came plush dolls, poseable
PVC figures and miniatures, playsets and an abundance
of other accessories including books, videos, comics,
stationary, bedding and much more.

Large Plush Sprites |
"These
colourful, plush sprites help Rainbow Brite keep the world
bright and full of happiness. They're fun-loving and cheerful,
with furry bodies and soft fabric arms and legs. Come
with its own story."
There were
six 12 inch male sprites produced, I don't beleive that
Hammy or IQ were ever made at this size. The male sprites
had yellow stars on their antennas and wonky smiles.
There
were six 12 inch female sprites produced at this size.
The female sprites had red
stars and little lips on their smiles.

| Hatfull Sprites |
"Each
of these sprites sports a zany hat and comes with a different
saying that fits its personality."
There were six Hatful
sprites produced, all male (IQ and OJ were the two unproduced
male sprites of this set). They were 5 1/2
inches tall.

| Happy Talk Sprites |
There were four Happy
Talk sprites produced for American food outlet Taco Bell.
They were 7 inches tall and squeaked when shook, and had
one hand that was shaped like a claw so they could hold
onto things.

| Small Plush Sprites |
There were five 5 inch
sprites produced by Emotions.

| Baby Sprites |
"These
are the cutest sprites ever! They're colourful, silly
and wonderfully soft. And because they're just babies,
they each come with a diaper and a tiny round home."
Baby Sprites
came in plastic balls, which opened up so you could take
out the sprites. They also each came with a nappie. The
balls are extremely rare & hard to find.
|
| Other Plush Sprites |
Other sprites include
Clip-On Sprites (clips
on tops of heads), Gripping Sprites
(hands gripped together so they could hold onto things)
and ones with wooly hair
(rather than furry). I have no idea how many characters
were produced in each style.
