Bertie & Henry’s Magical Gay Life

It’s been a long while since I’ve written a blog about the random items I find in charity shops. I buy so much these days for resale, that the things I buy for myself have become rather (and literally) lost in the pile. Today’s find offered the most excellent opportunity to start again, as everything I bought was for me. And what a random selection presented itself!

The Mighty Iron Pig

Figure finds from later December included Fingerlings, Go Go’s Crazy Bones, Hello Kitty, Joustra, Lalaloopsy, Marvel, DC Comics, Masked Rider, Mighty Max, Moshi Monsters, My Little Pony, Palace Pets, Peppa Pig, PJ Masks, Puppy In My Pocket, Smooshees, Trolls and Twosies.

Popple Turbo Funk

I found lots of super toys during August, some for me and lots for resale. So many in fact, that I couldn’t fit them all on the table to take a group shot! My favourite finds have to be the vintage plush Popples and Care Bears, and two Funko Pop: Fortnite figures.

DesignaFlat Strawberry

Finally, I found some dolls! My Monster High craving as been sated for a short while. Other finds from July include Club Chic, DesignaFriend, Disney Princess, Flat Eric, Incredibles, Monster High, Monsters Inc, My Little Pony, My Melody, Paddington Bear, Shopkins, Simpsons, Skylanders, Snoopy, Star Wars, Strawberry Shortcake and Trolls.

Suzy’s Chocolate Mask

I had a good spot of luck in the last few days the charity shops were open before lockdown, and was presented with a freshly donated pile of well loved Ladybird and Janet and John books on stepping through the door of my local (the manager knows me too well)!

Rupert In Blue Jeans

The last two weeks have been very plentiful as regards to buying toys. So much so I am now at maximum capacity and really hope my shop begins to succeed before I am crushed under a pile of dollys! I also struck on an excellent idea, and one which I hope will set my toy sales apart from others – FREE PIN BADGES, designed especially to go with certain sales!

The Ugly Dragon Who Came For Lunch

Another interesting bundle of toys from last week’s charity shopping. My favourite finds have to be the FurReal Friends “Torch, My Blazin’ Dragon” and Disney Toddlers doll. The PJ Masks talking figures are fun, and I found a whole lot of McDonald’s UglyDolls toys still in their boxes, which I really like. I also picked up some other fast food toys and a selection of little figures.

Seven Troll Mambo Through The Nightgarden

Last weeks finds included lots of little figures, which I love! I found Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, Snow White & The Seven Dwarfs, Trolls & Zelfs, various mid-90s fast food toys, Pingu, Scooby Doo, My Little Pony (G3), various In My Pocket figures, a Pound Puppies Newborn, In The Night Garden, a large Minions vampire plush (who I forgot to add to photo, so have snuck him into the side!) a few books, comics and Mambos and Cha Cha Cha on LP. Ooh yes, and an ALF figure thing from the week before!

Some Kind of Boring Cabbage

Last weeks finds were most plentiful, covering the carboot on the Sunday, followed by various charity shops during the week, and seem to have found lots of things in twos! I’m most pleased with the vintage He-Man and Stormtrooper figures, an Ever After High doll for 20p and the fabulous “Boring Postcards” book!

An Eggy Surprise In The Woods

I came back with books and toys this Monday, plus a couple of splendidly tasteless men’s ties! I found Mickey Mouse, a plush Kinder Egg, four more McDonalds Furbys, a lovely pop-up book, three story books and The Babysitters Club novel. I also found a little Bart Simpson devil figure and a small wig.

Guardians of the Naughty Star Lord

A bit of shopping (and a pint) in Rayleigh found me a Moxie Girlz doll and various figures (Monsters Inc., Guardians of the Galaxy, Duplo, The Corps, Pint Size Heroes, and Jurassic Park), as well as Felicity Kendal reads All About My Naughty Little Sister on LP, Star Lord Annual 1982 and a Ladybird book called More Things To Make.

Surfing with Noel Coward

A jaunt around some different charity shops uncovered a surfing Snoopy, Monster High, and various little figures (Zag Heroez, Lalaloopsy, Moshi Monsters, Squinkies, Polly Pocket, Twozies, Genie Girls, Freddo Treasures and Scooby Doo). I also found three books (Hellraiser,  The Butterfly Ball and the Grasshoppers Feast and Our Friend the Policeman) and six LP’s of dubious quality.

TrollBots: Hedgehogs In Disguise

On Thursday I took a wander into Leigh to see what I could see, and came back with three My Little Pony: The Movie figures, RoadBots, Power Rangers: Time Force, Care Bears, Zelfs and Trolls, plus and a wonderfully illustrated biology book from the 1960’s. And on Monday, I found another My Little Pony, Sonic The Hedgehog, Felix The Cat, Shnooks, a few mini items (Littlest Pet Shop, Star Wars, Disney and Moshi Monsters), a lovely illustrated children’s book, and three volumes of Golden Hands sewing magazines from the 1970’s.
