Flower Fairies were produced 1983-89 by Hornby. They were a series of 7 inches dolls with little petal outfits and wings that fitted into their backs, inspired by Cicely Mary Barker's drawings.  Along with the fairy dolls there were

There were seven original Flower Fairies produced. Christmas Tree's outfit was also sold separately (see Costumes page).

Deluxe Fairies

There were three Deluxe Flower Fairies produced at first, I'm not sure what makes them deluxe as the only noticable difference is the flower tipped staff thay all came with.

  • English Rose
  • Fumitory
  • Hazelnut

These four had their clothes sold seperatly as Deluxe Costumes. Poppy's box doesn't state she is a Deluxe Fairy, so maybe they weren't sold as such. I also don't yet know if the other three were also sold as dolls or just costumes.

  • Fuchsia
  • Poppy
  • Rosebay Willowherb
  • Stork's Bill

I found mention that these two were also part of the Deluxe line. Tulip was also sold with some small accessories too (see lower down).

Flower Fairy Twins

There were five fairy & pixie sets, which were also available individually. Christmas Tree, Narcissus and Sweet Pea remained unchanged from their original release (see above for images), making only two new fairies in this set. See Pixies page for their images.

  • Christmas Tree & Holly Pixie
  • Narcissus & Ground Ivy Pixie
  • Sweet Pea & Strawberry Pixie

The two new dolls:

  • Purple Clover & Nasturtium Pixie
  • Self Heal & Self Heal Pixie "with first aid bag, bandage, sling, splint & plasters"

Magic Flower Fairies

There were twelve Magic Flower Fairies produced, each one came with a glow-in-the-dark accessories (crown, wand/staff, brush and mirror). They were also all sold previously without the glow-in-the-dark accessories, their clothes didn't differ. I have so far confirmed six of the twelve dolls which were produced as Magic Flower Fairies:

  • Christmas Tree
  • Daisy
  • Orchid
  • Plum
  • Red Clover
  • Snowdrop

Mail Order Fairies

There was one mail order fairy produced, available after collecting enough tokens from packaging.

  • Good Fairy

Magical Mist Fairies

There were three Magical Mist Fairies produced (possible sold in both blond and brunette). They each came with a small bottle of Magic Mist (water), which when sprayed onto the fairies dresses made flower patterns appear on the fabric.

Fairy with Accessories

There were at least three fairies which came with small playset accessories (see Playsets for more information on the accessories).

  • Fairy Princess
  • Freesia The Wishing Fairy
  • Garden Ballet

There were at least two fairies which came with small accessories. They may also have been sold without the accessories too.

  • Mayflower "With extra long brushable hair!"
  • Tulip "With the help of a Ladybird this fairy can fly!"
