Lots-a-Lots-a-Leggggggs

"The outrageous caterpillar with lots-a-sneakers, lots-a-socks, and lots-a-lots-a-leggggggs!"

Lots-a-Lots-a-Leggggggs was produced by Commonwealth in 1984, and again in 1998. They were colourful, plush caterpillars with a multitude of legs, wearing multi-coloured socks with sneaker-printed feet. In Greece they were produced by El Greco, in Italy by Gig and in France by Ideal. Some are also marked with Hasbro.

They were sold in the UK, US and parts of Europe under varying names:
  • UK & US: Lots-a-Lots-a-Leggggggs
  • France: Mille Pa-Pattttttes
  • Italy: Tante Tante Gambe
  • Greece: Trexalitsa

Original Plush

Lots-a-Lots-a-Leggggggs came with varying amounts of legs. Each amount came in various colours and all wore a multi-coloured scarf. There antenna had wire inside to make them stand up, and little plastic balls on the ends. They also all had little red, plastic noses and plastic bum tags.

There were two subtle variations produced, depending on whether they were made in Taiwan or China. Toys made in Taiwan were produced with knitted scarves and socks, whilst the ones made in China were produced with woven scarves and socks (there are far less Chinese versions). The eyes varied too as the knitted versions had red colouring with pupils looking to the left, whilst the woven kind had a more sleepy look. See the bottom of the page for more detailed images.

The original toys came in six colours: blue, pink, orange, green, yellow and purple. Later on, themed characters were produced. I don't know if all colours were produced at all sizes, but have tried to find as many as I can.

Variations ~ Bum Tags

Their bug tags varied slightly, too.

Taiwan China

Variations ~ Labels

The logos on the labels also varied. Later production in Taiwan changed to the font to the same as China as far as I can work out, and is less common.

Original Plush ~ Packaging

Packaging differed from country to country. US and Italian packaging were the same (apart from the text), but the French and Greek packaging were quite different.

Greek Packaging

Greek packaging illustrations had nothing to do with caterpillars or butterflies!
