“And now a ‘space suit’ for mothers to be.”
Of the things I have found in this house, this must be the most peculiar so far! Found underneath the carpet, this is an article from the Daily Express, dated Friday 20th November 1959 about a new fangled birthing contraption. It reminds me of those blow up Sauna Hot Pants from the 1970’s which squeezed you until you lost weight.
“This combination of see-through plastic suit, vacuum pump, and clinical chaise-longue is the new Baby Machine designed to shorten and ease the pain of childbirth.”
“The suit is ready to be zipped on. The cage makes an air space around the body.”
See what I mean?
