Snugglebumms :: Unproduced

"Shake me - I giggle!"

SnuggleBumms were produced by Playskool in 1984 and MB from 1985. They were a series of funny, squat little characters with long furry backs for brushing. Baby Snugglebumms giggled when shook, and the adults lit up when hugged. There were also pets, bugs, miniatures and puzzles.

They were sold in the UK and other parts of Europe under varying names (none of which really mean anything!):

  • UK, US & Italy: SnuggleBumms
  • France: Les Bum-Bum
  • Germany: Knuffelbunt
  • Holland: TroelieWoelies

The 1987 Playskool catalogue (French version) featured images of toys which never made it into full production.

The Friends of Snugglebumms

"Leo the lion organises the games and the distractions, Michka the bear cub prefers to take care of the picnics and Trumpet the elephant takes care of the bath. All Bum-Bum friends come with their own hair brush, several accessories and a little story book."

Nelly The Kangaroo

"Nelly the Kangaroo with her good heart and her big smile, takes care of all the little Bum-Bums. But even when they are grown up, they come from time to time for a big hug ...
Nelly the Kangaroo comes with: apron, bonnet, slippers, Baby Bum-Bum, brush for baby, comb and bottle, brush and little history book."

This adult kangaroo character would have come with a little baby SnuggleBumm she could feed. She looks to have a fabric pouch and a heart on her belly.
