A new toy section has been added for So Small Babies!

“So soft ‘n small you’ll love them best of all!”

So Small Babies were produced by Galoob in 1989. They were a series of small two and a half  inch soft bodied dolls with plastic heads and bonnets. There was a mixture of babies and animals, and plenty of little accessories too. They were set to expand in 1990, but the line was discontinued before production.

A new toy section has been added for Baby Pick Me Up!

“Pick me up and I talk and giggle!”

Baby Pick Me Up were produced by DSI in 1997. They were a small line of 14 inch dolls which spoke and giggled when picked up. They caused come controversy because the doll had to be gently shaken to cause it to giggle, at a time when shaken baby syndrome was much in the news.

A new toy section has been added for Baby Petals!

“The loveable cherub with the great big flower bonnet.”

Baby Petals were produced by Fun World. I don’t know from when as unfortunatly neither the box nor the dolls have a date on, but would go for mid 1980′s. They were a small line of flower themed dolls, very similar to Strawberry Shortcake in size and stature.

A new toy section for The Chipmunks has been added!

Chipmunks, aka Alvin and the Chipmunks, began life in 1958 on a novelty record by Ross Bagdasarian, which was turned into an animated series in 1961-62. The show was then revived in 1983 and ran until 1989 with 65 episodes.

These pages focus on the toys produced by Ideal in 1983-85, as well as a few of the early 1990′s toys. There were plush, poseable and miniature figures, as well as outfits, playsets and lots of other merchandise. Various toys are still being produced today to go alongside the modern CGI movie releases, but I’ve not featured them here.

1980′s Retro Toy Badges

New images and information added to the Princess of the Flowers section!

What started out as a simple update of adding a couple of images, turned into a mammoth update as I realised I had several other images to add, which has helped sort out a few errors in mis-identification due to colour variations.

Original Set

I have now found images for seven of the twelve original sets, including on still in its packaging. I’ve included detailed images of the keys, dolls and pets where possible.

One more playset has been added, a different flower from the others too. I’ve also figured out that the keys which came with these sets were sparkly, but still used the same moulds as the original sets.

Baby Baskets

There are now images for three of the four Baby Basket playsets. This line was confusing to ID from the publicity images as it turns out the playsets were produced in various colour variations. All sets are now named correctly!

New images added to the Blooming Dolls section!

Images of five new dolls have been added, plus a flower-pot image of an already added doll. I have now found twelve Blooming Dolls, seven with printed eyes (six girls and one baby), and five dolls with plastic eyes.
