(I split this off from LeahLPS's original post ~Zuse http://ghostofthedoll.co.uk/Forum/index.php?topic=279.0)
Hi all, I've been trying to ID these toys for a bit now, but haven't come up with much of anything for them. Most of them are relatively high-quality toys, but they don't have any identifying company markings to help me out.
Also, I was wondering if anyone knows what these jointed, flocked animals are called? They're about 4 inches tall, and no marking except my sheep has one of those gold oval "Made in China" stickers on her belly...I have a friend that has the same kind of figures as a horse and a cow. I've always thought they looked a little like Bitsy Bears due to their pastel flocking, but I don't think they're related:
ID: Charmin' Farm Friends

Those flocked animals are driving me insane. I swear I had some of them! I must have sold or traded them though because they're not in my pony box, which is where they would be. *sigh*
-
I have a backcard to the flocked animals! BUT! I don't know where it went to lately ><
I also have the horse (two different colors that I know of) and the cow, oh and the pig. I don't think I was ever able to get the sheep... Man I wish I knew where the backcard went to D =
-
OOOOH, I want the flocked animals (esp the pig) they are gorgeous. Wish I could help identify them. I've never seen them before.
-
I really like the flocked animals.
Sorry I am no help with iding them.
-
Can't resist showing off my lovelies:

A backcard would be amazing!
-
I think I had the horse and the lamb, but I seem to remember the lamb in a different color. *sigh* Why did I get rid of them?
-
Since there is another horse posted that looks like both the flocked animals and Darlin' Dinos, I figured that all of these might have been made by Meritus. I looked through their trademarks and there were two lines called "Barnimals" and "Barndazzlers" in 1994, and "Charmin' Farm Friends" in 1993. A quick Google search on these didn't turn anything up, though.
-
You may be on to something... they look very Meritus... hmm.
-
Whoops, just Googled "Charmin Farm Friends" and found this image:
So we can rule that one out.
I'm intrigued most by "Barndazzlers". I'll continue to search.
-
Well, the Darlin' Dino Gemdazzlers have a jewel on their body - very Treasure Troll-ish.
-
Wow these flocked animals are HARD to figure out.
I hope we can figure it out.
-
Yeah zuse, your horse looks sooo much like Darlin' Dinos that I feel like there has to be a connection. And also the flocked horse here has the same bandanna and jewel. I found a couple of Meritus horse-related trademarks while I was searching too, I'll list them on that thread.
-
Aha! Possible breakthrough.
I looked through a page of trademarks and found the following for Meritus:
Annabelle Moo
Ellie May Choppe
Hillary Jean Nay
Patty Joe Skweal
Definitely possible names for a cow, sheep, horse and pig, which make up the flocked animals that we know of. No similar names were there, so those four might be it if this is indeed them.
There's another Meritus trademark for "Moover Groovers." I wonder if the main line could be called Barnimals with the Moover Groovers and Barndazzlers as subsets. Darlin' Dinos had several set names (Dancin' Dino, Gemdazzlers, Dino Petites, etc.). The flocked ones could be Moover Groovers since they're poseable, and the standing horse from the other post could be a Barndazzler.
-
Oooh good find with the names! Your theory about the different sub-lines seems likely.
-
I wonder if the Charmin' Farm Friends could be part of the line, too. They're not exactly alike, but not totally different either. I wonder if Zuse's horse wore clothes. She's got shoes. So if those were clothed, then the Charmin' figures could be minis of the characters.
-
I am in awe of you guys!
Now, the thing is... I've been searching Meritus and MII/M.I.I. on eBay for a long time because of Kidgetts. Obviously those lines exist... I wonder why they hardly ever pop up, haha? I feel CERTAIN I would have saved something that goofy/unusual looking if I'd seen it. I mean, I had the pic of the non-flocked one saved from a forum thread back in 2007/2008...
-
I wonder if they could be unmarked for some reason. ??? The flocked ones would have to be packaged to show up under Meritus. I've been into MLP in some form since the late 90s and I always loved fakies, but I've never seen anything like the standing horse or the PVCs. I wonder if they're really rare... Or maybe we're barking up the wrong tree, but I'm going to believe in Barnimals until I'm proved wrong. Heh. Gotta have some hope!
-
I just found one of the windup Darlin' Dinos on eBay. They're Mover Groovers. So the Moover may have been a typo. But I still think we're onto something!
-
Wow! I'm busy for a few days and don't check in, and look at all I missed! Great job!
The Darlin' Dinos are so varied and have so many sub lines that I definitely think all these barn animals could be related to each other. And Meritus toys do just seem to be a pain in the bum to track down :P I'm still finding out about Darlin' Dinos I didn't know existed.
Does anybody know how big the one we are thinking is from the charmin' line is? The "charm" part makes me think tiny like Charmkins, but it looks like it is probably the size of they Darlin Dinos pvcs. I have recently gotten a Darlin Dino that is less than an inch tall, another sub line I suspect, so I wonder if these came insanely small as well.
Questions, questions :) I'm getting greedy for answers now!

Here is the site I got it from:
http://www.antonias-allerlei.de/product_info.php?products_id=2186&osCsid=aa4911312120f090d385c17f97ce956b
It's kind of grouped in with fast food-sized figures on that site, so I'm just guessing it's a similar size.
-
Hmm, it's asking me to sign in...? Is there any way you could just display the pic?
-
(http://www.antonias-allerlei.de/images/FaFrSchaf_KB.jpg)
"Charmin - Farm Friends - Schaf 1993
Gebraucht, aber wie neu. Mit Original-Etikett."
-
Yes, all that's really there is the same pic I posted earlier--I just linked to show the other kinds of toys sold there. There have McDonald's figurines and such, so I figure it's in that ballpark as far as size goes.
-
was surfing the net while here in China and saw all of your posts on my families old toys. I am the son of the owner of Meritus and enjoyed making Darlin Dino's and the Barnimals. I personally named many of the characters and helped make them in China. Send me any questions you have and I will answer them if I can. It is fun to read some of your theories of how we came up with the marketing of these.
Did you know that we made Darling Dino pencil toppers as well as the Darlin Dino bank oh and mover groovers. We also made a small pony line that hasbro stopped us from distributing.
-
Wow! It's awesome that someone who actually helped in producing these toys is on here! Welcome oldmeritusman!
-
Oh, cool! Thanks for saying hi, OldMeritusMan! I wish I could find some Barnimals! They're great and so are Darlin' Dinos. ;D
I don't have any big questions, aside from how many and what types of Barnimals were made. I'd love to know that.
-
I think I love the internet a little more everyday. :D I pretty much think that Kidgetts were the best thing ever. Other than the part where I lost the doll that came with the convertible when I was a child, haha. Anyway, bet you couldn't make them now, though! Mattel would hunt you down... those Peekaboo Petites sure remind me a lot of old school Kidgetts! Mattel... you will pay!
We're finding out that half the toys we ever loved were by Meritus or Multi-Toys Corp. What's the story there? Bitter enemies? :D
-
And I just found my backcard today... but I guess I'm late on that information ^^""
Do I still need to show pictures, or not? I'm always late to things :-[
-
Yes! Show the pictures!!!
-
OMG, YES!
-
Finally I got them done!
And the 'poseable' was added later with a sticker o.O I hope the images aren't too big ^^"

And there it is = D
-
Thank you! Ooo, so the line's main name is Charmin' Farm Friends. Good to know.
-
Awesome!! Thanks so much for sharing that!
So, it looks like we can assume there are just the four animals? With the possibility of color variations?
-
Hooray! This is so awesome. I hope we can learn more!
-
So excited!!
I didn;t think this would ever be figured out.
Thanks:)
-
