Title: [ID: Barbie (mismatched!)] 1980s Barbie - unusual looking girl!

Hiya,

My Mum found this Barbie in a charity shop and I'm struggling to ID her:

She seems to be quite cheaply made. Her arms are very hollow and swing loosely. Her torso also feels light, hollow and 'cheap'.
She has a twist n turn waist, but it's very stiff.
On her back it says 'Mattel Inc 1966 Philippines' and on her bum cheek, there's a '5'.

Her fringe/bangs appear to have been hacked at (although by looks of things, she did originally have a fringe).

Any ideas, folkes????

Hi Laura, what you have here is an hybrid! That's the 1979 Beauty Secrets Barbie head on a body that doesn't belongs to her!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Look on google for any picture of the beauty secrets barbie and you'll see. The beauty secrets barbie had a bended arms body with special hands, articulated on the wrists.

Thanks, the head is identical to Beauty Secrets  :)

I just want to double check that it's not Beach Time Barbie, 1984, sold in Canada?? She has the straight arms and looks similar.

But I do think you're right and I have a My Little Hybrid!  :-* xxxxxxxxxx

I'm positive this head is from the beauty secrets barbie... The eyes paint and the bangs don't lie!!! Here you have a picture of the beach time barbie so you can make the comparition:

Call me crazy and I may very well be wrong,..that does not look like the barbie posted.  Her eyelashes are different as well as the pupils in her eyes and her eyeshadow...that head looks a lot older by years than the one in the box

that's exactly what I was saying! Laura had the doubt, so I posted that picture for her to compare. The picture is from a beach time barbie... And the head of laura's doll is from a Beauty Secrets barbie, not that one.

The body has been ID'd as Malibu Barbie.
