these were released sometime in the late 80's or early 90's. They were floppy stitched dolls with plastic heads, hands and high-top sneakers. All of their hands are bent in a C-shape so they could grip various things on their playsets. The shoes are pretty weighted, making it easy for acrobatics.

I found a ton at a swap meet a while back, and after I saw a few pictures of the playsets it seemed vaguely familiar but still hazy.
There's a commercial in this huge set, it starts at about 12:18: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wjnPiVZPciM
(as a side note, the walking baby doll in the commercial right after is extremely creepy).

I don't remember those dolls but they looks cool.
Thanks for posting the link to the YouTube commercials. There were lots I haven't seen in years at one video!

yeah that baby doll was CREEPY. there are a ton of other good commercials on there though :)
Why don't these Playground Kids have a page here? When I tried to google them I got one informative page (on MYSPACE of all places!) and then a ton of other people saying "I had one and I wish I could find more... "

I used to have one of these. It was the blond girl in the pink. She was really floppy--lol.

Yes I do! I had the Kelli one that came with a chair that she could spin down. (Kelli in your picture is the one with the orange leggings and purple skirt)

My best friend use to have a few of these. She loved them. I never cared for them though. They are interesting dolls. :)
