Ok... sooo... when I was little I had a secondhand toy - that was a shoe (I think!), which opened up into either a diner or an ice-cream parlour. It even had a red and white (again, think, I could be wrong on colours) checkered floor. I loved it - but have no idea what it was...
any help? :D

Yeah, I also think it's the Satin Slipper Sweet Shoppe from early MLP.

That's quite a possibility :) In fact, I'm sure I'd already worked out that's what it was about 6 years ago ::) :-[
Having said that, something about it doesn't seem quite right, but since I can't work out what that is, I'll assume that it is the Satin Slipper Sweet Shoppe, and when I see one in real life, I'll know! :)

ETA - that page says that it wasn't sold in the UK? Where was it sold? I'm UK based, so it would be rather odd for me to have had it :/

is that the right scale of the one you had? if not, could it be one of the Teeny Tiny Families sets?
-
No, it was definitely quite big :) I had some feeling it may have been Strawberry Shortcake, but I am now pretty sure it was this instead. Are they easy enough to get hold of again?

haha, finding that inspired my roommate and I to watch about thirty commercials. I woke up with "I'm a my little pony mommy.." stuck in my head..
