That Dennis Collectibles (aka: 8***e) reseller on eBay has been pissing me off for awhile now. Why, you ask?
Exhibit A:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=120715990654
(all 3 listings ended in May)
Becomes: www.ebay.com/itm/150609463473
(still for sale)
And there are more.
I say, for fun, lets scout out the the original auctions and compare them to the new listings. *bwahaha*
Or guess the future listing prices of some of their newest acquisitions.
More examples...
Exhibit B:

I need to stop posting active auctions for reference. But some of them keep relisting because they NO ONE WANTS THEM AT THE PRICE THEY ARE LISTED FOR. And then my favorite reseller is the exclusive bidder and sets them BIN at 10x the price?!?
A few yet to be relisted:
http://offer.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewBids&_trksid=p4340.l2565&rt=nc&item=140652779285
http://offer.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewBids&_trksid=p4340.l2565&rt=nc&item=280774253625
Wonder what price they'll be listed at?!?
What really gets to me is their terms. Some of the highlights:
NOTE TO ALL BUYERS: IF YOU ARE PICKY ABOUT YOUR BOXES/PACKAGING, PLEASE DO NOT BUY MY ITEMS, ALL OF MY ITEMS HAVE SOME TYPE OF WEAR, FROM CREASING, CRUSHING, CELLO (PLASTIC) DENTS/CREASING/CRACKS, ETC., PLEASE REMEMBER MOST OF THE ITEMS LISTED ARE VINTAGE TOYS THAT YOU ARE BUYING. I TRY TO LIST ANY MAJOR FLAWS, BUT SOMETIMES I MAY MISSING SOMETHING, EVERYONE HAS A DIFFERENT OPINION ON PACKAGE CONDITION, SO PLEASE ASK ANY QUESTIONS THAT YOU HAVE.
(Thank goodness you take that into account when you price your stock!)
I AM NOT TAKING OFFERS, SO PLEASE DO NOT EMAIL ME, YOU WILL NOT GET A RESPONSE IF YOU DO, THANKS.
LAYAWAY IS AVAILABLE, PLEASE EMAIL ME FOR DETAILS.
FROM A NON SMOKING/PET FREE ENVIRONMENT.
(How can they possibly guarantee that when they're buying 20+ year old toys that have only entered their inventory within the past few months?!?)
ALL ITEMS SOLD AS IS, SO PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU ASK ANY QUESTIONS THAT YOU MAY HAVE.
RETURN POLICY: ALL SALES ARE FINAL, THERE ARE NO RETURNS ACCEPTED, NO EXCEPTIONS WILL BE MADE.
I did some toy reselling on eBay once so I understand that profit must be made. And sometimes BIN is definitely the way to go (as you see when you compare the one bidder auction price to the proposed BIN prices in these scenarios). But this is taking the "sit and wait for the right buyer" approach to a ridiculous extreme, I believe.
Anyways, this most likely backfires and just gives them free advertising, but at least I'm entertained. :P

I just cant believe how insane that is!! I resell some items but i try my best to list them at a fair price along with what others have listed them for. We need to try to out bid him and "take things away" lol wouldn't that be amusing if that person is on here!??! :-)
-
Eh. They won't care. It's advertising either way, as they have a good feedback score. And they do pay well for some of their items.
But I think the volume of unsold stock they are sitting on speaks volumes!
-
You do have a point- I wonder if they are in a warehouse? I can't imagine having all of that in my house!!!
-
I wonder if you have all that and it is not selling that should tell you something. all i can say is this person sounds like a toy hoarder at the least who thinks they are sitting on untold riches. I collect toys myself because i like them not because they will be worth money!
-
Oooh. I know this reseller all too well. I always run into their auctions. Also, over a year ago a seller listed 3 of the 4 Bubble Belles MISB. Being the first time I'd seen them for sale I didn't know what to expect price-wise. I definitely overpaid because I was competing against them. I won Flora and Coral but lost Pearl to them. It really sucks because if they hadn't been bidding I would have easily been able to afford all 3. It's one thing if a collector beats you, but it's quite another if it's a reseller.
I actually saved the picture from the original auction:

And here she is still sitting with them:

Also, why don't they ever take that dang "Happy Holiday's!" text out of their auctions!?
-
It also doesn't help when they leave the original price tag on the box!!! It is quite sad though especially when you are the one bidding against them and you actually WANT the item!
-
I believe that is seriously uncalled for. I HATE it when they over price stuff. i understand it is rare but come on!!!
-
LOL, only in Freeport NY! Oh man, I used to live around there. Even their thrift stores around there were ridiculously overpriced. Nothing good in them and they'd have some beat up stained pair of shorts from Walmart for $5.99 at the thrift store. I bet that person owns a physical store there and has the items for sale in a store front in addition to on Ebay. I understand buying stuff on Ebay to sell in a collectibles store, but it doesn't make too much sense to relist them on Ebay for more than you paid for them. Not going to get that price and the listing fees every month would be crazy.
-
Also, why don't they ever take that dang "Happy Holiday's!" text out of their auctions!?
Haha! Seriously!!!
-
well with the way ebay is going and the recent paypal disputes i have seen i am staying away from that site for now.
-
What do you mean recent paypal disputes?
-
well in regard to the disputes some people are having their paypal accounts suspended by a single complaint. I know on the arena one user has a stellar 12 year record and one person complained and BAM the account was suspended.
-
That is insane and seems really unfair!!
-
Okay, so when I go to their "completed listings" it always says that everything (or almost everything) has sold. But that isn't really possible, is it? It seems that later on many of those items re-appear up for auction. How are they doing this? Also, you have to pay ebay a percentage if something sells, so they'd be losing money this way, right? How much of their stuff ACTUALLY sells?!? Has anyone else noticed this?
-
*bump* Seriously curious about this...
