This will be a strange one but I definitely remember seeing these at a friends place probably between '89-'91. They were toy furniture in different colours and made of soft-vinyl. They may have even been squeaky toys, but they were quite sturdy and bigger than your average doll-house furniture (kind of resembling dog chew toys perhaps). I recall, I think, a blue bed and a green kitchen cabinet, but the odd thing is they had very animated, cartoon-like facial expressions moulded onto them. The bed had a sleepy expression either on the bed-head or at the other end, and the cabinet had a smiling or excited expression on one of the its doors, I think, and the cheeks and noses would protrude from the vinyl. There may have been a yellow item as well. Has been driving me nuts for years.

I know! Argh! It keeps me awake at night. I had another flashback though; I think there was an oven as well, this may have been the yellow one. The face on the bed looked like the man in the moon or something. Come to think of it, they all had large noses, large eyes and big grins. Furniture personified, like in 'Beauty & the Beast' but completely unrelated!
Man, if it turns out these were just dog-chew toys, I'll be annoyed, haha. But they looked too good, too detailed, for them to be and I really don't recall them being that soft or squeaky.

Didn't the Pee-Wee Playhouse show have furniture with faces?
Is there anyway you could make a drawing of the general idea and post it here?

What other toys was your friend into? Could it have been from some kind of education show or a movie or something?
