Title: [ID: Tomy Big Loader Construction Set] Identify this dumper truck toy?
Post by: OliReading on Friday 27 January 2012, 01:41 pm
Hi all, I've been trying to identify a toy that I used to often see
back in olden days when I was a kid (about 25 years back).

It was a battery powered dumper truck which ran around on a track -
the track was about an inch or two wide, and had a few loops around
the footprint of about 18"x12". The unusual thing was that the truck
would fill up with pieces (coal?) then run around to some point where
hitting a button would cause the truck to dump its coal into the
hopper which originally filled it, then it would run in reverse to the
original location and fill up again.

In other words, it would run back and forth and fill/empty itself. I
saw numerous battery trains and trucks on tracks, but only remember
one which would self-empty and refill.

Can anyone tell me what this might be? I'm sure I'd recognise it from
a pic.

Thanks,
Oli

Well done - that's exactly it!

You win a fat cigar (no smoking indoors tho)

Thanks,
