Does anyone ever recall seeing a toy like this in the 80s, though it may have been a 70s toy hand-me-down...?
- Pink hatching chick, that made squeaking sounds
- Roly, poly weighted-base, like a weeble I think, but much larger
- Base was a deep-pink, thick plastic/rubbery egg shell, zig-zagged at the edge like a broken shell
- Top half was the head and upper body of a furry light-pink chick (no wings showing), with a cute orange, plastic face and beak, may have been smiling cartoon-like, blue eyes (?).
- May have had the top part of egg-shell on it's head like a cap, but not sure.
- If you turned it upside down or shook it, it would squeak or cheep
- Probably 10 cm in height
- You could not remove the chick from the broken egg, it was all one piece
- Could have been a baby toy, don't recall any markings.
Any ideas? :)

Based on the description I think I may know what this is. :) I have a blue one that is very similar to what you described:

Does this look similar to what you were thinking of? I remember my sister had a pink one that was identical.
Here is the tag:

(since its cut off it reads: "STOCK NO. 1835; LIC # NY 45300 PA; MADE IN TAIWAN."
I can't seem to find any kind of brand or maker's mark, just what's written on the tag. I hope this helps! :D

That has to be it! Ha! I knew someone out there would know what I was on about, thank you soooo much, flying_narwhal! I was going to update my post and say it could have been a baby bird or baby duck and not necessarily a baby chicken too, as it looks more like a duck doesn't it? I don't remember the one I recall saying 'Shake Me' but it was so long ago, that my memory is fuzzy, and it was a toy that my friend let me borrow for a brief time, because I thought it was so cute. Thanks for the photos, I instantly remembered that crack that ran down the back of the shell as well, when I saw it. Woohoo! Thanks again!! :)

So glad I could help! When I read the description I was like "this HAS to be it!" especially the part about the squeaking. :) I really wish I could remember more about when I got it or where it came from, but I'm pretty sure it was an Easter gift so far back I can't remember anything more specific lol. This was perfect timing too since this toy gets stored away most of the year except for a few weeks in Spring. ;D

Hehe, yep, good timing in that case! It is so great to see a photo of it again...if there's any chance you might be able to post a photo of the pink one your sister has, I'd be terribly grateful as I would love to see that little guy one more time before I archive his memory, in the huge filing drawer in my brain, under title 'Viewed & Somewhat Identified' (thanks to someone on the other side of the planet!) :)

I really wish I could upload a picture of the actual pink chick for you but she got rid of hers years ago :( However as a consolation I photoshopped the blue one to look like the pink one as best I can remember:

Definitely not perfect but I hope it brings back good memories :D

Haha! You're the best narwhal; very clever AND creative. That made my day! Lol.
Hey, anyone, how do I change this to 'thumbs up'? I cannot figure it out...

Aww, what a sweet present! :D
