looks like one of these to me-
http://ghostofthedoll.co.uk/Toys_KrystalPrincess.htm
-
I don't think it's a Krystal Princess as they were made by Playskool/Hasbro in 1992.
-
Are those cords coming out of the top of her head? And is the skirt removeable?
-
There are hair: in pigtails there are an little rope, if you pulled leaving the braid the hair wavy!
yes the skirt is removeable.

Toymax made the Light Up World of Everglo dolls in 1995--This seems to have the same face mold, but unless she also has fiber optic plastic strands in her hair and her feet are shaped like a heart with a hole for the light to go into, she isn't one of those.
Here's a picture of some Everglo dolls for reference, it's the best one I could find:

Hey! Thanks Erica! I was just thinking of creating a thread for (what I now know are) Everglo dolls! I had the Native American one. Why she is a blond, is beyond me. XD
-
face is similar but her feet aren't shaped like a heart.....
-
Hey! I bought that lot of Everglos! Heeheehee. Weird.
I have an extra now of both of those dolls, so if you are interested Batty, let me know! I'm not sure if you still have your not so native american anymore :P
-
Thanks for the offer zap, but I don't think I'll collect those..
-
I have a blue fairy that I'm now sure is an Everglo, although she only came with a small pedestal and not a big jewelry box looking thing. Maybe I'll start and Everglo thread in the general discussion section, since there are basically no pictures of them anywhere and I want to see what the others looked like.
As for the doll at hand, do you know if her hair was totally made up of those cords when she was new? And it looks like the bow is molded on; what is her outfit under the skirt? Sorry for all the questions but it helps me in searching to know what special features she has.
-
i've just spoken to my mum, having looked at the doll again i remember having one except it's hair was yellow. my mum remembers it too :) in regards to the cord things at the top of the hair, i'm sure you unravel them or do something to make them turn out crimped like the rest of it's hair.
-
This doesn't help a whole lot with IDing her, but I found the patent for her hair:
http://www.patentstorm.us/patents/5607338.html
Note that the guy who invented it worked for Toymax and it was filed in 1995.
-
It's not much help, but I found a picture on Flickr of her with a blonde girl from the line.

The other 2 dolls that person is trying to identify are Lil' Snaps. The flat dolls.
-
Its been a while, anyone got anymore ideas who this doll is?
-
More of these!

Compare to the original post:
So, if I understand right when they were first purchased the hair was a bunch of cords (like you might use for a necklace). However, you could unravel the cords and they would create the crimped hair look. The dolls are by Toymax but aren't Everglo (don't stand on a light-up base).
UPDATE:
Nevermind, you guys are way ahead of me!

Just tried another Trademarkia search and realized that Toymax filed some trademarks under slightly different names (like Toymax Inc. vs. Toymax, Inc. with a comma). Under one of them there is a patent for dolls called "Frizzles" in 1995.
-
... you are scary good. I would almost put money on that.
QUICK! EVERYONE! Put various combinations of that name on your eBay watch lists!
-
SO EXCITED! Look at this video I stumbled upon!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aKl3Y7kX8ds
So.. they're called Trenzuritas. At least in Venezuela...
-
!!!
-
Great Find! How exciting to see how these dolls were meant to be used.
-
So.. does this count as ID'd yet? Or are we looking for an English name?
-
Did the original poster say where s/he was from? If it's from South America then it will be a positive ID...
EDIT: Just checked the email listed in kirby's profile has a .it domain ending--which is Italy. ???

Found!
http://www.bonanza.com/listings/Dazzle-Dooz-Sleepover-Pal-Doll-MOC/13701823
I just discovered this Bonanza site and this was one of my purchases. The line is called Dazzle Dooz. I'll post pics, including a scan of the backcard, once she arrives.

Edited to add my own photo.

Great find! Another oldie post identified! :)
-
Here's a scan of the backcard. My scanner cut it off, but the dolls are still there. I'll try to scan the full thing another time.

You should try to scan the corner with the logo do Ghost can make a graphic for a page about them. :)
-
Well, like I said, I'll try to scan the full thing another time. I was pressed for time yesterday and my scanner likes to zoom in on the picture area and cut things off. I have a full time job, so fun things have to be put on hold until I have the proper time to devote to getting it done right.
-
Had a bit of free time. Here's the better scan.

I'm so jealous of you getting to style the hair! It looks like such a cute concept!

Hooray! There is an answer to every toy mystery eventually :D
