Steph emailed me this doll description and image:
"I had a favourite doll when I was growing up and I seem to have misplaced it. I have searched online for it, but I do not know what it is called. This doll was probably about 6 inches tall, had a white fabric body with a plastic head, hands and feet. Her face was painted on. I received this doll for Christmas in 1989. I have attached a picture. I hope you can help."
Thanks so much! Steph

Does this dress look familiar to you?

I'm afraid it doesn't have any tags, but it feels kind of like a felt material.
I think I used to have that doll and that was the dress she wore.
Good luck!

It's not a dress. It's a pink bathrobe. I have that exact doll.
It's a drink and wet doll also. I would say it just had the same head... but it's also wearing the outfit mine has. I think "Baby Bathe-A-Lot" on eBay is it, but maybe a later release since my sister got hers in the late 80s. It has a very recognizable face.

I won't be able to get a pic of mine until I visit my parents in a few months. I can only see the AA version on eBay (and it's an earlier release - from the late 70s/early 80s. Mine was purchased in late 80s/early 90s).

I feel like the later version I had has an actual pink "bathrobe." Not just the blanket with the ribbon along with a dress. (But same mold).

UPDATE!! Hey Em I found the doll that your dress belongs to. She is 1981 Baby Soft Love by Tiara Dolls/ Playmates. Hope this helps you!
-
I found an image of Em's doll, but no luck with Steph's.

By the way, I'm not sure if this helps at all:

9" Welcome Home Baby, it says 1981. o.o;

No, that's not her. I'll get my sister to take a pic of our doll this weekend to show her in her little pink bathrobe. It's so cute. :)
-
Found her. Weird... the back of the doll's head has the Playmates logo. But her robe is Corolle brand. I'm 100% they came together. However, my doll doesn't have a cloth body? (She drinks/wets so she is solid plastic).

Wow how interesting!!! Thanks for posting pics. I wasn't aware they made them without the cloth body. And she looks so happy. :)
That robe is quite puzzling, isn't it? :D

You know, I can't tell if the doll in the original picture has an open mouth or not (for drinking from a bottle). They said she had a cloth bottle but the angle of its head looks like the one I posted (the plastic head on the plastic neck/body has kind of a weird angle to the way it swivels).

Zuse- is this the doll you were trying to id? It has the year as 1977 and it seems like the seller may know more info about it- couldn't hurt to ask!! I hope this may help at least a little!

My doll was bought about 1988/1989 because that was when my mom was struggling to potty train my (STUBBORN!) little sister and thought this would help. That little carrier in the eBay picture is something way more modern.
-
haha, what an amusing story!! I know the carrier is more modern and does NOT go with the doll- it is a carrier from build a bear. I just thought the doll looked the same
-
This is my in-box Baby Bathe-A-Lot. I also have one that I got growing up that came in a blue terry cloth robe.

I was going by the id listed on this thread. After re-reading this thread, I see that the original post says that the doll is a soft body which would make it a Playmates Baby Darling, Precious Playmates Soft Love or a Tiara Dolls Baby Soft Love. All the same company, but the name has changed over the years. They are in the photo of my collection below. More photos of these dolls are here: http://ghostofthedoll.co.uk/Forum/index.php/topic,1645.msg16025.html#msg16025 (http://ghostofthedoll.co.uk/Forum/index.php/topic,1645.msg16025.html#msg16025)

Your Baby Bathe-A-Lot is adorable! I'm not sure her doll was the Baby Soft Love though, because she said it was about 6".
-
I don't believe the doll in that picture was 6".
To me, if it was soft-bodied, then it was probably that doll in the white box with the blue border. It has the pink outfit but the same head/expression that mine did.
-
So, I've looked through my doll clothes and I may have been confused about what outfit mine came in.
In other news, saw this vintage one on eBay:
