Title: [ID: Grumples / Razzcals] Raspberry blowing monsters
Post by: Ianua on Thursday 22 April 2010, 10:54 pm
Hi just wondering if anyone still owns/has pictures of any of the Woolworths UK exclusive toys from the 80's they came out around the time my pet monsters were popular. They were soft cuddly round ball shaped creatures in day glow colours there was definitly a yellow, pink, orange and a green one they had long tongues and when you squeezed them they made a PPPLLLLLLLUUUUUUUPPPPP sound. Does any one have any pictures or can even confirm they existed so I know I'm not going mad thanks xxx  :P  xxx

Sounds to me like "Razzcals" (or Razcals, can't remember the spelling off the top of my head).  Here are mine:

If I'm right though, they aren't UK exclusive :)

Cool! I had some that were plastic balls with faces that had a balloon attached at the mouth somehow. They did something similar.

Was it something like this?

I randomly came across it searching ebay the other day.  Here's the link:

I thought it was strange because I only ever knew of the plush, and while these aren't called exactly the same thing, they sure are similar.

No, that's not them. I'm not too worried about it. It's one of those things I'd know if I saw... but couldn't describe it really, haha.

I'd love to see a pic of a blue one!  I honestly have no idea how many were made.

I still remember thinking how beautiful the pink one was growing up :P  The others started out as toys for my brother and his friend, and when I got the girl, I felt so included.

On the description: wouldn't it be nicer to say raspberry noise? :-D

Off topic: I think the ball/balloon toys I had weren't for making noise? I think they just had a tongue stick out or a balloon out of their nostril, etc. They were about the size of a baseball or softball.
