Title: Please help id my shape sorter toy
Post by: jadedoz on Monday 25 February 2013, 08:43 am
I have a photo of me as a 2 year old in 1983 of me in my bedroom and there is a plastic house shaped toy that I believe to be a shape sorter sitting on my bedside table.
I would love to know what toy this is or at least the brand

Here is a link to the photo: http://www.flickr.com/photos/jadestoys/8392599023/ (http://www.flickr.com/photos/jadestoys/8392599023/)

Thanks in advance

Looks similar to this...

...but perhaps a modern version. That's a V-Tech one in the image I posted, but I found that Little Tikes also made a line of 'house-style shape sorters' that also look similar to yours. Maybe similar to a Sesame Street one as well...

What I want to know is about that doll in the Scarlet Ohara dress on the other side of you. I had one just like it except she wore a wedding dress. Her face looked just like that. With her oversized head and eyes. Anyone know anything about that doll?

It's funny; I actually thought someone might mention that doll. I recall them as well. A few of my friends had them in the late 80s, early 90s, in different dresses, usually really gaudy-coloured. I know nothing about them though! I think the limbs may have been bendable....(??)

I have one, still at my parents' place. If I remember, I should be able to get more information about it today when we go to pick our kids up.

Update: I did check out the doll. She was on a base that said "Made in Korea" but I didn't see any other markings. I know I looked this up a year or two ago and I'm pretty sure that I figured out what it was and that mine was a "fakie" of the real thing.

Those dolls are known as "Bradley dolls" and were around since the 60s, I believe. I found one in a shop once that was a lamp... when I finally had extra money for it, the shop was closed. :c

Just out of curiosity but where are you from? England?
