There must be a lot more different Newborn styles than I thought. I've never seen one like the one pictured. Now I want one like this. I love his face.

The newborns are really cute! My childhood Pound Puppy was just a dark brown newborn with the floppy ears.
I had a newborn Pound Purry too. White with grey feet/tail/ears/muzzle (like a colorpoint). For Pound Purries, I think the newborns' eyes are way better than the adults'.

I just bought 13 Newborns on eBay plus one 90's Pound Puppy. I never had any newborn Pound Puppies as a kid, just my big one. I thought since they're fairly cheap on eBay it might be fun to get a bunch of them. I'm off to a good start. I thought I'd only be able to afford three or four but I found a couple of really cheap lots and I had to pull the trigger.

I did some research and I know what this is now. It's one of the Pound Puppies with "new faces" that were released around 1987-1988. They had them in both newborn and regular sizes.
