Title: Plush Purple Insect with Iridescent Wings [Oct 2009]

"I am looking for a toy that I remember being given in to me in 1990 I was in kindergarten. It was a plush purple bug with six little legs and shiny iridescent wings. I believe it used to squeak but only because it had a hard thing in it's middle. I've been told by my older sisters it was a rainbow brite toy but I've looked and looked and can't find it. It had yellow eyes with a sleepy look to them and purple eye lids the eyes were just flat plastic with enamel. It might have had a hat like a sleeping cap at one point but it wasn't a glo-worm. It was about 12cm wide and 20cm long.
I hope you can come up with something. Thank you very much."

Post by: BattySparkles on Thursday 29 April 2010, 08:40 am: Pretty sure it is not the Wonderwhims Butterfly Boo. It is described has having 6 legs and aside from the fact that they are both purple, winged, and bugs they don't really have any other similarities.

Post by: Ianua on Thursday 29 April 2010, 05:14 pm: I had one I don't think they were any range though just a pound shop style toy it had a voice box inside and when you pressed it it mad a chattering sound xx they were called chatty bugs heres a link to the one I had on ebay is it the right one.

Post by: EricaVee on Saturday 01 May 2010, 03:27 pm: Hmm, they still don't match the description...It says they had flat plastic eyes that were yellow with purple lids, and these look embroidered and white. Did your bug with the nightcap have different eyes?

Post by: zap18 on Wednesday 05 May 2010, 08:55 pm: Ooh, that second one is a bed bug!! I'm not sure where the seller got "beddy bye bug"- maybe an alternate name. I got one of those for my sister's birthday a year or two ago as a prank gift. They are so delightfully ugly!

I haven't seen that one before though. Interesting...

It's a Lotsa Leggs toy? Doesn't match the description perfectly but it's a purple bug toy from the right time period.

I know this is an old thread, but I couldn't find much info on these toys. The tag on the one I have reads "Beddy Bye Bugs Stuffed Toy; 1987 Cilla Jury"
