Title: Super Pickle - Amtoy (1980s)
Post by: zuse on Saturday 08 May 2010, 04:44 am
This series of plush was apparently based off of the pop-up book "The Adventures of Super Pickle," written in 1972 by Dean Walley with illustrations by Mike Strouth and paper engineering by Dick Dudley. It was printed as one of a series of Hallmark Pop-up books published by Hallmark Cards.

In the early 80s was when these plush were produced by Amtoy (they made a lot of those toys that clip onto things with the hands). There was a larger plush line and the smaller clip-on series.

Here are some more pictures from current and old eBay auctions. There were a large variety of ones produced. Obviously, some are more common than others! Super Pickle is the most common (and the most beloved!)

Here are some of the small clip-on ones. I believe that they were produced in 1983. Most I have seen were carded. However, I found one in a plush bin at the thrift store that has a hang tag! I'll take a photo of it later!

Brings back memories.

Hey, did the Banana and the Peanut ever come with velcro face pieces ala Mr. Potato Head? Just a random thought, a memory of something I had as a kid. :)
