OH MY GOD! Wish 'n Win Game Show!! Never in my wildest dreams did I ever think I'd see that again! I remember getting it from a thrift store when I was a child, and I would attach cut out papers to the choices. ;oo; Thank you EdenEye!!!!!!!
I spent years looking for what that Barbie set was, but a couple of months ago I saw it in one of the online toy catalogs. The Barbie version was called Barbie Rub & Color.

Hi Em! Glad to hear Wish n' Win brought back some memories for you. I don't remember it at all. Was it a game show that was on tv??? Thanks for the links! I did have one of those Barbie Rub & Color sets for sure!
-
You're welcome. I have absolutely no idea on the Wish 'n Win toy set, I know nothing about it. I just figured I'd never see it again, since I couldn't remember what it was and it was hard to describe. :)
-Em
-
I had tons of those EXACT same barrettes! Awesome.
-
Hi guys the wish and win game set was one of the wish world kids toy range ghost actually has a page on them check it out :D
I was bought it as a kid and loved it had loads of the wish world kid sets infact someone else was trying to identify another of the dolls the other day the one from the desk set .
-
Hi Ianua, thanks for the info. I had no idea the wish n win had to do with the wish world kids dolls. I was the one trying to ID that wish kid that comes with the desk set. But I did not get the Game and the doll in the same place. One at a Garage sale and one at a thift stores about a month later. :)
-
Well now the doll can host the game show xxxx ;D xxx
-
Lol, yea in her Band-Aid dress, a real fashion statement! :)
-
Im trying to fight the urge to go treasure hunting again today.....
-
So for some recent finds. Haven't gone shopping in a while and sorry no pics....yet.
I got Lucky and found at thift stores:
PJ Sparkles Doll
Lil Miss Candi Stripes
Sally Secrets
Electronic Battleship board game...Yah!
Items purchased on Ebay
Lil Miss Dress-up
Lil Miss Magic Jewels
Those were the big most exciting items :)
-
Sally Secrets! I found one an at op-shop but unfortunately she is nude (apart from her locket!) The sticker mechanism looks a bit dodgy on a nude doll! I like Penni Secrets better but I still want Sally too (I got Penni from ebay). What condition is your sally in - where you lucky enough to get her pretty much complete?
-
My Sally Secrets in Complete. As far as I can tell anyways, so were the rest of the dolls. But the box on PJ Sparkles head is detatched on one side. No idea if she will light up, haven't tried yet.
I will post pictures when I can.
I'll be getting a Lil Miss Magic Colors soon too!
-
I hardly know what to say... You've found such amazing stuff! Congrats!!!

where do you go to get all this awesome stuff????
and im sooooo jealous of your superstar barbie\!!! i had one when i was liyttle and havent found one since! shame shes missing her earrings i remember i tried pulling mine out and it was impossible! xxx
-
I like the she-ra horses from your first post, and the Hermione dolls so cool! I was too young to really remember she-ra but i like those horses in the picture, very cool!
-
I get almost everything from several thift stores. There are like 20 different ones I go to, good thing about living in a big city. I love the thrill of finding something cool! It's a treasure hunt, hense the name Eden Eye's Newest Treasures. And It's cheap enough that I can afford it.
On occassion but pretty rarely I buy from Ebay, from forums like this one, online vintage toy stores and local classifieds. I recently found a vintage Care Bear cub - Proud Heart cat in vintage classifieds for only $3, and she has her bonnet! Super excited about that but I am yet to pick her up.
I LOVE thift shopping! But I gotta admit there is always a bit of anxiety. I don't want anyone I know to see me there! It has happened like 3 times in several years and its always akward! Lol. Thift shopping seems frowned upon here, like if you need to go to a thift store you must be poor. But I love it too much to stop!!! Lol. I get so much awesome stuff for so cheap!
Unfortunately most of this stuff ends up in storage in boxes because I have no where to display. I will one day get it all out and do a massive sale on Ebay. I am horrible at figuring out shipping quotes and one of my least favorite things to do is box and ship things out (my local post office sucks, the people working there are beyond stupid, lol) so I have been procrastinating.
-
EdenEye I have the exact same problem with shipping, I am derp at it. I have two boxes and a bag of stuff to sell and I don't even know where to really begin!!
-Em
-
Eden eye you are so lucky the thrift stores here do not take toy donations anymore I do not like thrift stores in NY any more.... >:(
-
@Em Yea like what I don't get is, am I suppost to find a box for everything and weigh/measure it before i know if it will even sell? And just keep tons of boxes around or something? Argh. :)
@Rider of the Storm I have noticed at least one thift store not carry any toys except stuffies. What a bummer. Honestly, what can these toys do anyways? I'd love to know!!! And who have they harmed? What's going on? I think its a conspiracy. They want people to buy all new toys...good news for toy companies!
-
Yeah for ebay you need to weigh/measure before it sells to give a shipping cost and yep, you need to have bubble mailers/boxes and other packing supplies handy.
-
Thanks Eden eye I had to rant even the local good will only has large toys I mean huge fisher price sets ect or tons of generic plush but that is about it. I have not been to the salvation army lately I have no idea if they still have a toy section or not. I am hoping they still do.
-
In my opinion the only thing generic plush animals are good for are for my dog to destroy!!! lol. Some are very cute, but I don't collect them. Hehe.
Some more recent finds:
- Vintage Barbie case. (I absolutely LOVE the artwork on these. This one is either my 3rd or 4th This one is dated 1968.)
- Goosebumps Shrieks and Spiders Board Game(Game I had as a child, great to find it again)
- Guess Where? Board Game (From the creaters of Guess Who which I LOVE! I never knew this game existed and I was very excited to find it)
- Another ISpy Book (No matter how old I get, I never get sick of these.)
- Hobnobbins vintage puzzle
- Starfox for super nintendo (Perfect shape with box and instructions for $1.00!)
- Oddworld for PS1 (Perfect too!)
- A whole bunch of batman action figures from the 1990's, I thought these might be worth something but they appear to have quite a bit of play wear. Maybe i will find a little boy to give them too.
I really need to start selling on Ebay. My last attempt was disasterous. :(
-
I almost wish the thrift store wouldn't even accept "carnival toys" (aka cheap hideous plushes). Unless the child is really young he or she can tell when something is crap and won't want it. They take up so much room that I can't find any good plushes most of the time! >:(
-Em
-
Yeah that is what 90% of the plush at the local good will is . I found about four care bears for about 1-4 each but they are all modren ones from 2007 and one was a penguin but I do not collect these guys . I wish I could find new homes for my duplicate action figures so far no takers :(

You really need paypal to sell on the inernet. It makes it much easier for buyers and offers protection. Are you on any action figure boards? You would have a much greater interest there as the majority of collectors on here collect girls toys.
-
YAH! I stopped by a thift store today and found a
Lil Miss Mermaid!!!!
I love Love LOVE Lil Miss dolls and I have been finding lots lately. But for years I had found none. Ya I am so excited!
And I finally got my Lil Miss Magic Hair with box and accessories in the mail today. In getting closer to completing my collection of these dolls.
-
Nice find I am hoping to go to the flea market again some time in late march or early April depending on the weather.
-
That is so exciting! I don't often find nice pieces like that. I guess sometimes I might look over them since I don't actively collect them/know their worth. I should probably start picking them up so that I can maybe find them a home with people who do want them!
I'm always jealous of your thrifting brags!

Starbright Sparkles (YA! I have my original from Childhood so this one is up for grabs.)
Penni Secrets
Lil Miss Candi Stripes (2nd one I have found)
My Pretty Topsy Tail
Lil Miss Magic Jewels (I found her with a terrible haircut but after a good wash it looks very cute short)
Princess Bride (This one I bought MIB from Ebay and I am actually quite disappointed about the quality of the doll. The bangs were so messed up that I washed her hair, but they are still very messed up.)
Lil Miss Magic Hair (With box and accessories)
Baby All Gone
Giga Pets Little Mermaid
2 Jem Dolls
Build-A-Bear Hippo
My Pretty Mermaid
My Little Pony Hand Mirror
Electronic Dear Diaries
-
Most of the dolls I find come with their hair so terribly knotted that it looks impossible to repair. Just check out Penni Secrets before and after!

Wow you had some seriously awesome finds! Sorry to hear about the MIB doll's bangs.
Did you find your My Pretty Mermaid with the Barbies or in a bag of toys? I can't find any!
Penni Secrets looks SO much better. I've had to do some crazy makeovers before too.
Did you try using conditioner? I never thought it would do anything but if you leave it for
a few minutes or longer then rinse, it makes the hair super soft and less dry. ;D
-Em
-
@ Em I found the My Pretty Mermaid in a bag with one of those soft beany groovy girls dolls.
I did use shampoo and conditioner on all the large dolls in the picture except Lil Miss Magic Hair (Her hair seems fine). It did a great job getting out massive tangles but their hair seems kinda straight and flat now. Still better then before. I have been thinking about useing a curling iron or straightening iron but Im not sure if this will melt the doll hair. :?
The worst hair was the My Pretty Mermaid. Even after the shampoo, condition and brush through, it is very very frizzy in the back.
I went past a two thift stores today and found a few more things I will take pictures of later.
Lil Miss Mermaid (My 2nd find)
Glitter Beach Barbie (My 4th find!)
A Lost N' Founds light brown rabbit/hare in PERFECT shape. Looks and feels like it was just purchased!
Snorks stuffie.....not sure yet if this will belong to my dog. lol.
-
Okay, well as far as straight/flat hair goes,
I run a comb through it while it's still wet then gently scrunch it with my hands and maybe a thin towel.
Sometimes that seems to encourage the factory curls or waves to come back.
With dry hair even after conditioner,
I have learned that you CAN straighten it but ONLY on the lowest setting.
Also, make sure the hair is still wet, has conditioner in it, and is smoothy combed while you do this.
It's somewhat tedious and you should go in sections.
But for a doll as pretty and cute (and small) as a MPM I think it's worth it!
It will produce steam, that's normal - just make sure you don't let the water droplets or steam burn you.
Also I'd try testing it on a wet strand first to make sure it doesn't melt it.
Good luck~!

With the MIB dolls bangs were they wrapped around a piece of carboard and then held with elastic? That's what my MIB penny brites bangs were like and they look pretty crazy. Remember they've been held like that for something like 15 years! Do you have any curlers? I mean the leave in type that you don't heat up or anything. I reckon if you put that in the bangs and left it for a while (like maybe a few days, maybe more?) and especially if you wet it before hand and let it dry over the curler then I think it would probably work pretty well at taming them. That's what I intend to try with my doll. I'm one of those people that can grand intentions of things to do and I still plan to do them... but months go by and they've still not been done! She's still packed away with crazy hair!
-
Hey Mouse, yes that was exactly how my doll came. With her bangs wrapped around a piece of cardboard. The hair roller idea is genious! I don't have one but I'm sure they aren't hard to get. I will try it. I am a procrastinator too.....especially when it comes to school work. :)
-
Nah they shouldn't be hard to get and I think they tend to come in packs of different sizes so if you did it and you thought it needed to be smaller than hopefully you've already got a smaller curler on hand to fix it how you'd like.
