Post by: apanda0622 on Monday 28 June 2010, 04:37 am
Why does some plastic trun yellow over time and some doesn't?  I have Barbie funiture that is pink plastic and is the saem age and stored the same, but some has turned kinda yellow pink and some looks fine.  Why does it only ahppen to soem and not others?  My Playmobil is the same.

I don't know but it reminds me of Super Nintendo's. A section of the plastic would turn yellow over time, another section wouldn't change color. Different types of plastic? Who knows, but it looks pretty bad.

that was a very interesting article :) thanks so much for sharing. It's a shame the way plastics can discolor and breakdown over time causing such aesthetic damage to the collectible items some hold so dear!

Yes but so far there has been no way to reverse the loss but it seams that if you store plastic items in ideal conditions they will last longer.
