Title: Pink-Aisle.com
Post by: zuse on Tuesday 16 March 2010, 06:39 pm
There used to be another sort of catch-all toy guide site on the internet called Pink-Aisle. I remember specifically using some of their guides about the Sunshine Family, Sky Dancers, Secret Families, etc. Then it just randomly disappeared (the domain name ran out). I finally refound its actual hosting address. And then that expired as well. Any idea what happened to this site?

I don't know what happened to that site, but it was really informative and it had commercials on it too.

I guess I'm mainly wondering what happened to the owner. It was mlpsweetberry on the MLPTP (toyznmoretoyz on eBay). I know there was someone that dealt with them on eBay and they suddenly disappeared (2006). Which sounds at first like a bad trader/scammer... but when you look at all of the work that went into that site and shortly afterwards for it to just expire/disappear like that... I worry that something happened to them. :(

Yup I remember the site. I think they also sold stuff on Ebay under the same name?

Yeah. She was toyznmoretoyz on eBay.

Am I the only one that worries when people just *disappear* off the internet? I mean, I know that life gets hectic and everything and people get busy but I wouldn't think you'd put all the work into a site and not at least back it up for posterity.

Some weird stuff went down with some eBay sales and packages not getting sent out. Everyone declared her a scammer but I think they eventually got their stuff. I'm wondering if maybe something happened to the individual and someone mailed the stuff out for her? It's been about 3 or 4 years now and I've never heard of her again. I think of it every once and awhile and ask around but no one knows anything.

Sorry, I have a very overactive imagination, obviously!

This was one of the banners for the site:

I've tried... even when it first disappeared. It was a doll site before it became pink-aisle.com and there is no archive of the pink-aisle version.:(

The real address was http://tickledpink.4dwebhosting.com/

Pink-aisle.com just directed you there. :(

Edit: The domain name was hosted by 4Dwebhosting.com in January 2006 (gotten from name-services.com) and went to another site back to name-services.com in January 2007 and was deleted in 2011. So that site only lasted for a year.

The Cupcakes updates reminded me that this web site also a very complete Cupcakes page.

GRR.

There are so many members of the toy collecting community on this GotD both new and old... was no one in contact with the individual that made this site? :(

Nope - I don't think so. Or if they did they don't want to come forward for some reason (oooh... conspiracy). This is really eating up at you, huh Zuse  :P

So, I think I figured it out! The person is still around but I'm out of options to contact them! All their old email addresses are dead and they don't seem to be on social media (b. ~1958). They do have a current address in the Bay area but that's too IRL for me so there's the closure for me. I also have a clue about why they went MIA in 2005/2006 based on information about an alias. :)

They seemed first to be big into Kenner Glamour Gals and were linked off of the old KennerToys.com collectors website that used to exist. Also, the same registration person for the domain names of that older site and Pink-Aisle.

Here was an early c. 2001 version of the commercials section of their webpage. https://web.archive.org/web/20011029095550/http://www.kennerglamourgals.com/gg.htm They seemed to be very tech savvy. :)

(Hosted by yahoo.com from late 2001 to late 2002. So that site also only lasted for one year).

So, John/Shelby (or Christine) if you ever see this, email me sometime - I'd love it if the old website could be restored for posterity! :)
