Bought this doll from a car boot sale and havn't been able to ID her. I thought she was a Hasbro Sindy, but she has no manufacturer's markings on her. She wears a silver tiara which is attached to her head. It has the letter "S". The outfit she came in looks like a princess dress but it has no brand name and possibly isn't her original dress.

I'm going to do a process of elimination here:
1. It's not a Mattel doll, so it can't be either a Barbie doll or one of her friends or one of her Disney friends.
2. It's not a Snow White doll because her hair's the wrong color.
3. It's not a Kenner Miss America doll because none of them had a name that started with an S.
4. It's not Kayley from Quest for Camelot, an animated film from 1998 (no S in the name).
There have been umpteem non-Disney (like Quest for Camelot) animated films (both traditional and computer-animated) made in the past 20 years, not to mention plenty of animated TV series. Did any of them have a character or kingdom that started with an S?
These are S girls' names that I know of, but they are traditional names, nothing trendy or movie-cutesy.
Sabrina; Salome; Samantha/Sam; Sandra/Sandy (Cassandra? Alexandra?); Sarah/Sara/Sally/Sadie; Serena; Sharon; Sharlene; Sherry/Sheryl/Shari; Sheila; Siobhan; Simone; Sissy (Cecelia et al?); Sonya; Sophia/Sophie; Stacey/Stacie/Stacy (Anastasia?); Stella; Stephanie; Susan/Sue/Susie/Sukie; Susannah/Suzanne/Suzi; Suzette; Sybil

Thank you for your reply. I'll have a look through those names you gave me. It is a pretty doll and I'd love to find out what she is!

Another manufacturer that I've decided against--Creata, which had the Flower Princess, Lace and Bobby Sox dolls. Creata's dolls faces were too round and big.

She kinda looks like the doll on this package.

Thankyou for your help skippercollector.
I still havn't managed to identify her though!

Hi pikapal - thanks but the link you gave me isn't working so can't view the picture. Do you have another link pls?

The doll is on this website on page 7.

Thanks pikapal. Have had a look, but I don't think it's any of those Barbie dolls.
My doll has a silver tiara which is attached to her head. It's sewn on, and I think she must have originally had this when new. The tiara has an S so it has to be a doll whose name begins with S.
She does look like a Hasbro Sindy, but after scouring Hasbro Sindy websites I havn't found any that ever had a tiara the same. So she remains a mystery.

She's a Tesco Ella doll. Tesco sold these dolls pretty cheaply - they often came with scented hair. There were also various outfits available.
Here is a link to my Ella:

See - she's the same!
Ella dolls bear a striking resemblance to Tanya dolls and also to Fulla dolls (if you google these dolls you might find some images).

Thank you so much for IDing this doll, but I'm still puzzled as to why her tiara has an S on it as it's attached to the doll. I've had a look online and I'd trying to find some pictures of the Princess dolls.
:)

I got another one of these dolls for Christmas (unboxed) and she has a tiara attached to her head and ultra long hair - I'd be very interested to know what the name of the line of these Princess-type Ella/Tanya dolls are. Let me know if you find out!

I found out more info!
My doll is a Mermaid Tanya called 'Tanya Sirena'

This facebook page is great for Tanya ID.
The 'Miss Italia' doll has a tiara like yours, so maybe your girl's outfit isn't original?
-
Thanks for that. The Tanya doll looks very similar in the face. The tiara is different though. Where were these on sale in the UK?
-
I don't know if they were on sale in the UK. I picked my Tanya up in a flea market in London, one of the others was also second-hand and the other one is an Ella doll (from Tesco) who has exactly the same face and hair as Tanya.
Fulla dolls have the same face too - these dolls are very confusing!
-
I'm still not totally sure which one she is. Her tiara has a letter S so her name must start with an 'S'. Perhaps they made more dolls but I can't find any photos of this one on the internet.
-
Well my one is a Tanya 'Sirena'. S for Sirena?
Are you sure those clothes are hers?
-
The dresses just say "Made in China" on the label. I suspect the clothes aren't original. They seem to be very good quality, for a doll that's sold at the cheaper end of the market. But then this doll is well made. Compared to a Barbie she seems almost as good as.
-
Yeah, the Tanya/Ella dolls are really well made.
What a mystery!
