Title: Mermaid dolls, Mattel, possibly Disney?
Post by: PonyTales on Tuesday 03 September 2013, 12:23 am
Alright, I do not currently have these in my posession but I am trying to figure out what they were.

A clamshell, inside is an image on the "ceiing" and a sort of hollow area on the "floor". The clamshell is about 7 inches across when closed, so larger than a Merwee. Each one came with a baby mermaid with a rubbery pearlized tail that matches the shell. They came with lots of mermaid-style baby care items. There were at least two, a purple and a green one. I am sure they were produced by Mattel, and probably as a tie in to the Little Mermaid line as the mermaid babies were similar to the twins sold with a babysitting Ariel doll. They were released in the 90s, sometime between 93 and 97 I think.

I'm trying to figure out what they were called so I can find more. I collect mermaid stuff and the detail in these was quite nice. Anyone have an idea?
