Hello Color (or Hello Colour) by Sanrio with some of the well known characters and Rainbow Circus characters.
Hello Color was produced by Tonka (US?) Hello Colour was produced by Matchbox (Australia, Germany, UK?)
I don't know much about them other than I have the platypus one. I think they were around in 1985 up until about 1988?

Sorry it's not very organized. I'm just kind of adding pictures as I find them and will try to make sense of it later. :)

Avon also made at least one bath toy/puppet out of the same color-changing foam material:

That cat looks just like hello kitty and I want that unicorn it is so cute ! ;D
-
I had the Hello Kitty one! I loved playing with her in the bath, I can't remember what colors she changed to though! I used to chew on her little bow all the time, I was probably about 4 when I had her! Nice to see her again! :)
-
What are they made of? They look plush, but I can't imagine that's much fun if it gets wet. ???
-
I've never really dissected them. I imagine they are foam inside as well. Something that takes up a lot of space but isn't very dense or heavy so it will dry faster. They are literally a sort of foam material on the outside. With improper care they just start to disintegrate... just a bit more durable than a sponge.

I was never alowed to put mine in the bath mum said it would get smelly lol
-
I have a few of these Rainbow bear, Giraffe, My Melody, Tuxedo Sam.
I thought about putting one in water just to see if it still works but I am scared. What if it just falls apart..lol.

@DarkAngel77
I have My Melody and tried her, she still works just fine. :) No problems at all.
