Keypers - rare????
« on: Wednesday 27 October 2010, 11:23 am »
Hey guys!
as some of you know I still have all my keypers from childhood and have decided to add to my collection with ones that im missing.
OK right heres the thing - another random memory - Toys R Us when I was little, money in hand, go down the aisle where the keypers were to buy Keyboard The Penguin (series 1- b/w/r) only to have a member of staff currently packing them into a metal crate, when my nan asked him where they were going he told us they were Canada as the kids over there needed toys lol - Now I figured out he was lying straight away dont worry im not that dull lol. ANYWAYS my friend Jay, turns out his mum was the manager back then and they were actually a batch that was recalled due to packagng issues she thinks.....I have searched the net for info on this and come across absolute zip!

soooooooooooooooo long story short are their any rare keypers as since about 1999 I have been looking for Keyboard and never come across him (charity shops/net/papers) and when he does come up hes always gone well above my price range.

Also Michelle I have her but the same sorta thing you dont see her that often

anyone? xxx/

I feel for the little you seeing your toy carted away!

In my experience the more rare Keypers are the series 2 pink Keyboard, along with the purple baseball Hero and the pink tennis girl Hero.
The original Keyboard seems to come up fairly often, but as you say, he's one of the more expensive to find.

A couple of months ago, I found a huge stack of Keypers at a boot sale, with the series 1 Keyboard among them - I didn't buy him because he'd turned a bit yellow, as soon as I got home I wished I'd bought the whole lot!

It seems like for every toy line there are those elusive pieces that come along only once every few years. I can't think of any 80's toy line that doesn't have some UK exclusive or unproduced prototype. Just keep looking and eventually you will run into it!

I've been looking online myself, I am surprised that I can't find him for sale anywhere either... now I really wish I'd bought that boot sale one!

I know I've seen him on eBay a few times this year, but again he's usually too expensive. I have found somewhere selling the purple series 2 version, though - but the original one is so much nicer.

i agree i dont like the series 2 version! pink and blues just seem watered down for an all girl market i find series 1 much brighter and nicer i guess it holds more memories for me.

im going on a charity shop kick this weekend! watch me find nothing lol xxx
