[ID: Li'l Secrets] "Little Secrets" Dolls
« on: Friday 09 July 2010, 01:54 am »
Hello, all! I hope you can all give me a little help out here. I was recently browsing nostalgia sites and came across posts talking about Polly Pocket and other dolls, and that of course made me nostalgic for my own cheesy '90s dolls. I had one particular set that, if I didn't still have them, I would swear were a figment of my imagination, since I can't seem to find ANY information anywhere on the interwebz about them. On the box I had packed them away in, I wrote that they were called "Little Surprises", but they could possibly have been called "Secret Surprises" or "Secret Treasures." When I was 6-7, I thought they were the coolest things ever; they came with their hair in a ponytail, and inside the ponytail was a little charm/coin, which you could pull out and play with. They're cast plastic, with the head in soft vinyl and as the only movable part. They are about three inches tall, with really fluffy hair that sticks straight up in a ponytail from the top of their heads. Here is a pic; apologies for the low quality, I was doing the best I could on short notice using my laptop camera.

These dolls came in sets of two, I'm assuming, because all of mine are pairs with matching outfit patterns on slightly different outfits and different hair colors. The ones I have (in more detail, because I know it might be kind of hard to tell from the picture) are:
A blonde doll in a blue star-spangled matching shorts/shirt set with a redheaded doll in a baggy sweatshirt in the same star pattern and yellow leggings
A brunette doll in a purple plaid sweater-vest and pinky-purple skirt (shown) with a blonde doll in a matching shorts set in the same purple plaid
A dark brunette doll in an lime/purple check tank top and lime green shorts, with a light brown-haired doll in a purple and orange checked dress
And a single, bigger doll, about 3" tall rather than 2" like the others, with sparkly purple hair and a pink dress with lavender stars and a lavender collar.
All of these dolls have a little medallion molded onto their outfits, some of which still have a sticker with an italic "S" on it.
On the back of the head, they are marked 23R L4346
(c) Mattel Inc
China
I think I remember playing with these as a 5/6 year old, which means they were probably made sometime around 1994-1996. I tried googling these in all possible permutations of the name, with no success. Was I the only person who had these dolls? I can't seem to find any information on them at all! Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Definitely Li'l Secrets!

It's very interesting to see that the original dolls are larger than the Six Doll Sets, never having seen them together I didn't know that.  :)

I think somebody was looking for these dolls so I am posting this Ebay auction I found. It is not properly listed, the seller doesn't know the name of the dolls, so it will probably go for a good price.
