[ID: Marvin's Magic Drawing Board] Magic Slate with Rainbow Writing
« on: Monday 21 November 2011, 03:48 am »
I had a toy that was similar to the magic slate. However, you did not lift the sheet to clear it. It was "framed" with (yellow?) plastic, and the area you wrote on was some kind of black plastic. There was a red plastic piece that was shaped like a "T" that you used to write. You used the ends to write, and it would leave a rainbow color. To clear it, you would smooth everything out by turning the "T" upside down and dragging it over the surface.

The back was printed with pictures of the toy, examples of artwork to try, etc.

Any ideas? :)

I know what you're talking about but the name escapes me. I remember seeing commercials for it all of the time on TV. I will keep looking for it even in online commercials.

Okay! Marvin's Magic Drawing Board.

I could have sworn it was a seen-on-tv thing (like Better Blocks) but thought I might be imagining it so didn't include that in my original description. I assumed that the drawing would suffice. ;)

I definitely remember the advertised cat and fish drawings.

AGH! I had the color-changing markers too!

I remember Crayola starting making some that did the same thing. :)

Marvin's Magic Drawing Board. I'm not sure why my mom got me one of those. It barely worked, and I had more fun revealing the printed rainbow pattern underneath than "drawing" in that liquid... which erased half of your drawing as you were working on it. Curse me and my need for tiny detail...
