New Born Baby. Late 1980's ID Help
« on: Thursday 09 February 2012, 11:10 pm »
I THINK this is a "New Born Baby" as it's called. This party is in 1988. My first b-day. Anyone who knows what year the doll is or where I can find it may tell me.

Here's the thing. I don't know what year the doll is or if I could find what one really looks like in the box still...and I want to know who made the doll and what year it's from. HELP!!

P.S. If ANYONE found the exact doll with that exact outfit in the box, I'd be forever grateful.

ENHANCED: (to better see the box which might say "New Born Baby"

I THINK this is the same doll...but not sure..

The doll in the second photo looks a bit like a Berjusa brand doll

It came from an old Ebay listing saying it was a 1986 "New Born" Baby doll...which is the same name as the doll in the first photo (I'm certain from the actual photo I have) but I could be wrong. My real focus is where the doll from the first photo is, if it still exists, and the year..maybe even a company name and seeing if it came in just that outfit (which I'D love to find it in that outfit) or if it came in other outfits.

Is it related to THIS in any way: http://www.ebay.com/itm/1987-AA-MY-NEWBORN-BABY-LAYETTE-SET-NRFB-/200709771174?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item2ebb3c0fa6#ht_3385wt_952

There is also a "New Born Baby Shivers Doll" but I don't know if this is her, either.

On a related but different topic - this fabric pattern was really popular in the 80s/90s wasn't it. I had a dress in this pattern but with a yellow background and I'm sure we had a doll with a dress of this fabric too (maybe a blue background?) Anyone else remember it or is it just me?

I'm not sure about your doll. I'm starting to think this may have been (but I don't know for sure) a "thrift store" or "dollar store" type doll. Because it's name is so generic. Only "New Born Baby" and I feel sure that's the name...and the box is very plain aside from a couple blue bows on the front. Aren't the boxed baby dolls bought from these store harder to find?

Could my toy be anything to do with the dolls on this thread:

I do see some similarities b/w your doll's box and the box for the Playmates Baby Darling, but also many differences. Also, I think Playmates had switched to the 'Tiara Doll' packaging in the 80's. Still, you might consider emailing Playmates with a picture, and asking if they can tell you if it is one of their older dolls, just in case.

It definitely looks like there is more information on the box than just the doll's name though, as there is text below the name box, and it looks like there is something in the bottom left corner as well.

Do you actually remember the doll being called "New Born Baby?" I can't tell for sure if that's what the name is on the box.
