TNT Sweet Scents/Blooming Babies/Other Scented
« on: Sunday 11 April 2010, 08:41 pm »
I was just looking through the pages for the SSC-inspired dolls and I headed over to eBay to see what I could find. I came across (and bought) this girl:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=310198699546

She wears the outfit shown on the unknown purple doll here:
http://ghostofthedoll.co.uk/Toys_TNT_UnknownDolls.htm
And comes with the outfit worn by Sweet Scents Grape here:
http://ghostofthedoll.co.uk/Toys_TNT_SweetScents.htm

There's also what looks like a floral outfit, so I wonder if that would have been worn by her Blooming Babies incarnation.

The seller says that is her original box, so I'm guessing these TNT dolls were sold in boxes like this with all their possible outfits. Maybe at the end of their production run? Dolls like this might explain the plethora of unknown outfit dolls that resemble Sweet Scents or Blooming Babies, but aren't in the right clothes.

I'll post more pics of her once she arrives.

Hi Lori, great pics! I didn't think the TNT dolls came with little plastic shoes, or am I mistaken? Your pink haired doll is Strawberry (Watermelon has green eyes).

Whoops! I forgot to mention that those are 1991 SSC shoes.

I got a helpful tidbit of info from a friend! She says she had these as a kid and got them from a premium-and-promotional item catalog. There were 4, and they had three different outfits each.

Those Cooky Box (or Cocky Box as I first read it  ;D) dolls are quite vile!

Lol they would be worse if they were called cocky box! I don't think it's a particularly bad concept since flatsy dolls (and these) look as though they've been cut with cookie moulds and the cooky/cookie play on words.

They've actually started making flatsy dolls again - I've seen them in shops. No one seems to be buying them!

I had 3 TNT dolls.  I could be mistaken, but I'm almost positive each one came with one of these: (which I still have) a bathtub, a high chair, and a stroller.  They're in the attic at the moment, but I think they were hot pink and purple.

I think two of them had the short and curly hair cuts, and only one had long hair.

I look forward to finding out more about them.  I really miss their smells.

Do I spy one of those clown dolls in this auction? I think so! If it is indeed one from that line then they are called Picka-berry Circus.
