Peach Fuzz Village - Mel Appel (1987)
« on: Saturday 01 May 2010, 07:34 am »

Another set of flocked animals. I'm not sure how many there were, as I don't have a pic or scan of the back of the box (saw the picture on eBay).

There use to be larger sets with 4 animals that came with accessories like a kitchen table, but those set were boxed. I use to see those sets at the Toys R Us in the 80s. I use to beg my parents to buy me the sets. I know there is a pig family. I think they came with the table.

Did you manage to save any pictures? Where they ever in the store circulars?

This may sound weird... but basically any flocked animal I automatically assume is a Sylvanian. I don't know what subtle differences to look for. :P So, I like seeing all the fakies/knock-offs because I can see which ones to look out for!

No, I only remember seem them in the stores. There are some flocked knockoff that are really large about the size of a poesable Care Bear. I should take a picture of my large rabbits.

Here is my large rabbit. (Standing next to Glory and Birthday Bear for size reference.) It's the adult figure. There are smaller ones that are the kid rabbits. And if you need help with fakies I think I can help you with these. Although I don't know anything about the Russ Berrie figures.

In South Africa we had exactly the same mice, but they were called Forest Families.  They were dressed the same as the Peach Fuzz Village mice you showed, rather than the ones shown in this Forest Family picture: http://ingridlinnea.blogspot.com/2009/10/forest-families.html .

I had (and still have) a lot of them and some of them were dressed as they are dressed in the picture, and others dressed differently.

Though I didn't have them, there was also a family of purple creatures not shown in the picture, I can't remember whether they were dinosaurs or dragons.  The bear family also originally had more than 4 members.  Initially they were released with closed hands that couldn't hold anything, and later they had hands like the ones shown in the picture.

This site has the same mice dressed nearly like yours and also calls them Forest Families: http://petitsmalins-sylvanians.blogspot.com/2008/01/nouvelles-familles-forest-families-et.html .

I've just found this site http://sylvanianhaven.weebly.com/forest-families.html about Forest Families.  It includes furniture which other sites didn't show.

oh, that's what my pig is from.  I had a picture of him in the to id section.  I'm not sure if he was id'ed or not but he is now!

Here was my picture of him/her.

They are basically like the toy I used to have that I remember was Maple Town...guess they are very similar.

Oh no! Another Sylvanian /Maple Town/Forest families like thing? It's so hard to tell all of those types apart!

Oh, cool thanks :D I have three of those mice, mother, father and child, and the adult pigs. The female pig was a bride.
