“Four approaches to beauty and comfort.”

These very 1970’s interior design delights are from a 1977 Ebony magazine article which featured four different apartments.

“A seemingly endless octagonal sofa blends with mirrored cocktail table, classic marble fireplace, Louis XV bombe and Regency pedestal to form a room of elegance and grace.”

“On the sofa-bed is a Clavos spread from Spain, the rug is a Shervan from Russia, the large chair is Danish.”

“A Bambara mask from Mali greets everyone who enters. A Bentwood rocker and an Eames chair flank the sofa. An arc lamp lights an Akuba doll and Shango staff on the Barcelona coffee table.”

This last apartment is my absolute favourite. Check out the extra deep, shag pile carpeting.

“The skyline of Chicago’s Gold Coast area can be seen from the living room of this two-bedroom bachelor pad.”
