Hollywoods dolls were produced in 1987-88 by Tonka. The 1988 Tonka Toy Catalogue shows lots of new dolls and playsets but I am unsure if they were all produced beyond the promotional stage. The dolls were 5" high with jointed arms, legs and head and had painted-on swim suits, tights (on some) and sandals. They had colour-change hair which changed when warm.

Images from Kim, eBay and Tonka's 1988 toy catalogue (with thanks to Totally Jem).

Hollywoods Dolls

"Look! My hair changes colour"!

These dolls may be from the first series of Colour-Change Hollywoods, it's hard to tell! I'll add more as I find them.

Looking at the packaging (below), this series didn't appear to come with clothing, just a brush and hair ribbon.
