Quints :: Dolls

"So many different kinds of Quints to collect and love!"

Quints were produced by Tyco in the early 90's. They were a series of tiny quints dolls with loads of accessories, fashions and playsets to collect. There were also sets of teenage doll triplets to babysit the quints, who had fashions and playsets of their own.

They were sold in the US, Australia, UK and other parts of Europe under varying names:

  • UK & US: Quints
  • Italy: Bidibodi

Quints

There were at least ten different sets of Quints produced, each coming with little accessories. One set was mail order only.

1989

1990

1991

1989

The first set was produced in 1989 and available in three colours.

Quints with Bottle & Bunting

They had white nappies numbered 1 to 5, and were produced as a black set, blond set and Auburn set. Packaging is dated 1989. so this may have been the first set to be produced.

Each set included:

  • 3 girls and 2 boys
  • Bottle for 5
  • Sleeping bag for 5

Blond ~ STK. No 1550-1

Auburn ~ STK. No 1550-2

Black ~ STK. No ?

1990

Five more sets were added in 1990.

Quints with Special-for-5 Bottle

The US release had white nappies numbered 1 to 5, and were produced as a black set, blond set, Brunette set and Auburn set. They were essentialy the same as the original release, but without the sleeping bag. The blister pack release, sold in the UK and parts of Europe, had coloured nappies.

Each set included:

  • 3 girls and 2 boys
  • Bottle for 5
  • Comb (pink)

I've found two versions of this packaging, differeing in the colour used for the titles (yellow background with blue font, and pink background with yellow and white font). Nothing else was different, with either the packaging or contents.

Blond ~ STK. No 1551-1 & 1551-2

Brunette ~ STK. No 1551-3

Auburn ~ STK. No 1551-4

Black ~ STK No 1553

I don't think the black dolls were sold on blister card. The blond pack is marked "No. 66117".

So Soft Newborn Quints

"They feel so soft and real!"

The dolls in this set were scented like baby powder. Each set included three girls and two boys, five nappies, a five doll blanket and a birth certificate book. I don't know if the red or Brunette haired dolls were produced for this set.

Black

Blond ~ STK No 1561

This is the Italian packaging.

Drink and Wet Newborn Quints

I believe this set was only available by mail order from 1990-91, obtained by sending in the tokens collected on the back of each box. The set included three girls and two boys, five nappies, five bonnets, baby powder for five and one bottle. I suspect this set only came with blond babies.
