[ID: Magic Nursery Babies Small Size Surprise & Oodles] Oodles
« on: Thursday 14 October 2010, 03:01 am »
Hey guys! I know the Oodles mold was used to create the lil babies line and possibly several other generics.  I was wondering what was a good way to tell them apart.  I have two groups, one with the circle and one with tiny accessories.

Hi Sarah this is a topic thats come up many times as far as I can tell there are 4 main groups of these babies that were produced I collect the 1st two types. (only missing one it's soo annoying)

The first group were Oodles these were the 1st group produced and are easily identified as they all have a loop on the top of their head to attach them to bracelets.
they all had the loops and there were 4 sets

Coochy Coodles these were all one of 4 single skin colours ie: no painted parts
Peek-A-Boodles were all one of 4 single skin colours  but all had a painted accessory
Rock-A-Bye Boodles were all one of 4 single skin colours but had a painted item of clothing
Curly Q'Oodles  were all one of 4 single skin colours but had a painted toy (i'm missing 41. Garyoodle from this set if anyone has him)

Ghost has an Oodles page here

Your second picture is an Oodle

The next set produced were lil babies these were blind packed i.e you bought a plastic envelope and it was luck which one you got here's a picture of a package one

<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/23306478@N05/5081584295/" title="lil babies by powerpuffruth2000, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4026/5081584295_23dbf3e734.jpg" width="400" height="300" alt="lil babies" />[/url]

These are easy to identify as they are exactly the same size as Oodle but have no loop, also the painted accessories were uncoloured. They also released some odd coloured ones which were rare to find in the envelope this thread contains a picture of a standard coloured lil baby and a rare purple one.

The lil baby is the larger flesh coloured one at the front of the 3rd picture

The 3rd set were the "magic nursery babies small size surprise" which came in two different styles painted and unpainted examples of the unpainted ones are in the last picture on this page

Your first picture is a magic nursery baby unpainted version.

You can tell the difference between these and the lil babies because they are very very slightly smaller and their coloured accessories were removable though some had uncoloured and unremovable accessories moulded onto them as well that you can see in the pictures.

Just for the sake of completeness also produced were magic diaper babies they were much later produced in the 90's and much bigger and an extensive range was available I only mention them because a lot of their poses were copied directly from the Oodles range. Again Ghost has a page here

There were 48 Oodles made and 48 lil babies but I'm afraid I have no idea how many of the smaller magic nursery babies were made. (hope this helped)

A few more pictures in this thread of the types of different babies

http://ghostofthedoll.co.uk/Forum/index.php?topic=242.0

It seems in some countries the magic diaper babies were just called magic babies that caused some lively debate :)

Can you post some pics of your magic nursery babies collection I love to see some pics I don't know much about that line :)

Post pics of that leaflet! :o

Also, for the Magic Nursery Baby - was that skirt original??? Mine only came with solid plastic accessories (cap/bottle/rattle/crib).
