Children's Circle Videos
« on: Saturday 20 November 2010, 08:20 am »
I have fond memories of watching some videos we often rented from the library in the 1990s.  I think they just had a narrator and zooming/pans of book illustrations.  They may or may not have included animation.  One that I recall in particular had Hansel and Gretel.  It randomly shows up in my absent mind, all the time!

I remember the logo of the company looked like this (I don't remember which face came first of course):

I've looked for these videos for years.  I'd really appreciate any information, thank you.

My mum got the tape for me all the time at the libary. I think I wore some of them out.

Oh my god yes!!  Thank you SO much!  That's like itching a ten year old scratch.  Well, older than that even.

Now all I have to do is find out what episodes they had, easy as pie.  Thanks again!

Children's Circle Home Video

Five Stories for the Very Young (1986)
Five tales for kids are presented in animated form: "Caps for Sale," "Whistle for Willie," "Changes, Changes," "Drummer Hoff" and "Harold's Fairy Tale."
Norman the Doorman and Other Stories (1989)
"Lentil," "Brave Irene," and "Norman the Doorman" are seen in their animated version.
The Pigs' Wedding and Other Stories (1991)
Five children's stories illustrated with non-animated drawings. Includes "Pig's Wedding," "The Selkie Girl," "A Letter to Amy," "The Happy Owls" and "The Owl and the Pussycat."
The Robert McCloskey Library (1990)
Five delightful stories from writer McCloskey, including "Lentil," "Make Way for Ducklings," "Blueberries for Sal," and "Time of Wonder." Also includes a 1964 interview with the author.
What's Under My Bed? and Other Creepy Stories (1990)
Four scary (but not too scary) stories for children. "What's Under my Bed?" lets children know that even grown-ups get scared. "The Three Robbers" provides an excellent role model in the form of a brave and bright little girl. "Teeny-tiny and the Witch Woman" is a version of the Grimm Brothers' "Haensel und Gretel." Least scary is "Georgie the Ghost." Excellent production values, from sound to graphics.

Hansel and Gretel is in the last video.  :>

Wow thanks for the link!  I didn't even try YouTube until after you posted that, I just figured it was too off the wall.  I was wrong!  Someone uploaded Teeny-tiny and the Witch Woman.

Part 2: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0htkf1zp5CU

I looooved rewatching it.  I must get that on video.  :)!

I noticed there were some other videos made, like a reading series, but I wasn't interested/able to research it much today.

If you get the Qubo channel there is a show called Sammy's Story Shop that shows some of these stories.
