Sam emailed me this description:

"I was wondering if you could help me identify a toy I have. It was made by Tomy. It was a small battery operated chick that had sensors on the base so when you held it in your hand it cheeped at you. I think it was called a 'Palm Pet' but I really can't remember. There was a range of these pets that included a dog, a kitten & a rabbit."

UPDATE!!!
After contacting Tomy, they confirmed that this toy is indeed a Palm Pet, which were discontinued in the early 90's.
