[ID: Magic Tea Party - Playskool (1991)] Magical Tea Set
« on: Wednesday 17 August 2011, 09:11 pm »
Now. I know there is another thread where it spoke of finding a certain tea set I wanted. And an answer was given http://ghostofthedoll.co.uk/Forum/index.php?topic=1563.0 BUT I feel the MUST be some set out there that STILL has the cookies and the disappearing jam.

I believe these cookies were cream colored, the jam was purple, and when you put water on the jam, the jam disappeared. I spent under an hour, felt like much longer, trying to find this ORIGINAL and non reinvented set that still had the cookies.

In fact, if I hadn't recalled playing with these cookies so much as a kid, I'd probably think they didn't exist. Help!! I would LOVE to own this set again. Thanks! Praise God!!

IDENTIFIED:

Thanks!! I know it wasn't the tea party after all but my memory is clear on this set. Thanks! I'm SOO rebuying this one day if I can find it. :) Not buying today, but one day. I needed closure. God Bless, Be Praised, and Jesus Love!!

Is it the barbie set you are talking about or just something to compare it to??  I used to have a set that I believe was made by fisher price that sounds just like what you described with the jam that disappeared...

I'm pretty sure that's the Playskool "Magic Tea Party" set. It even came with its own washing pan. I keep having trouble finding pictures of it online. It's a 1990s toy.

Similar toys, but NOT the tea set that I am speaking of:

Fisher Price:

I think this was out about the same time as the tea set I'm talking about:

(1993)

Now, just need to find the magic tea set...

zuse, I think the FIRST picture comes closest to the cookies I was thinking of. They were just...normal shaped cookies. Do those cookies change color at all?

I know it wasn't the toast (Bless your soul for that, looks like a neat toy)

the second set of pictures aren't what I'm looking for (magic tea) its the same set I was seeing everywhere when finding this one. And it's definetely NOT the fifth photo or the icecream pictures.

And the last two, like the first picture come closest. The painting on the cookies as well as the knife splatter.

EDIT: I think of all of them it may DEFINETLY BE the magic breakfast party. I paused and thought HARD. :) thanks!! Now I just need to find THAT product.

ALSO, SOMEBODY PLEASE TELL ME THE YEAR THE MAGIC BREAKFAST PARTY CAME OUT. THANKS ONCE AGAIN, ITS DEFINETLY IT!! i SOOO REMEMBER PURPLE JAM.

EDIT: HERE'S THE YEAR: 1993 http://www.trademarkia.com/magic-breakfast-party-74389777.html

The Magic Tea Set was pretty much a lot like the Breakfast set. There were cookies that looked like shortbread cookies and the knife would have the jam on it and the cookies would get jam on them too (like the muffins in that other set).

The tea cups did like all these others (changed color) - kind of a common gimmick.

Then there was the washing up pan (the tea tray was the lid, so it doubled as a storage container). I think if you put the opposite kind of water (I don't forget it it's warm or cold) it reset everything.

For some reason I am thinking- with my set at least- that it had to be cold water for it to change color b/c I remember adding ice to it....and when it hits room temp. it goes back to normal

Here are some animal cookie ones, but the ones the tea set had were like round/flower shaped or something.

Apparently there was a whole line. I can almost see the commercial for the tea set in my head (it was definitely the most successful and popular in the line, I would think. I don't know why none are on eBay).

The (white) cookies in this lot are almost right. I think they were brown/yellow, though. Maybe the plastic didn't age well or something?

Playskool Magic Tea Party - Breakfast Set - Lemonade Party Set

I seem to remember a big trend with that color changing plastic for awhile (cups at fast food places, etc.) So I doubt that either Chilton or Playskool "invented" the cup thing. But it was an awesome concept for a tea set!

Maybe the white cookies are from the lemonade party? I don't have a picture but that's one of the names mentioned in the auction. That would explain why you would remember a pitcher (like the orange juice pitcher in the breakfast set), the jam, and the cookies.

(Obviously I don't know which parts go with what set. I'm 100% that cookies came with the tea set).

Are you saying the Lemonade party may be the one with the white cookies as well? If so , than what I want is the Lemonade party.

I have no idea what set the white cookies came with. I never had these toys - all I remember is wanting the tea set VERY badly.

Keep an eye on these categories on eBay:
