I THINK it used to light up and make some sounds when you "fed" it.

Really wish I had a time machine now  :P

Monchichis were monkeys but the knockoffs came in all sorts of animals. I distinctly remember cat monchichi  knockoffs. This could very well be a monchichi knockoff too.

Holy moly, that's cute!

Looks like a dog to me. No teeth and ears seem a bit too short to be rabbit ears, but I could always be wrong.

Ah so you think it might be the same company because of the possibly light up nose and 'feeding' action?

This article http://www.toynews-online.biz/news/25101/Vivid-relaunches-Loveable-line says vivid got the license from 'Giochi Preziosi' I did a little search and found nothing

Oh I found an on card picture of the vintage lovable bear keychain: http://www.superstock.co.uk/stock-photos-images/1895-33260

If I were you I would keep searching ebay.it and ebay.co.uk for rubber faced plush (and try to found out how you would say that in italian and if that is what you would call it) and one may pop up eventually.
