[ID: Flower Princess] Doll with Gemstone Eyes [Jan 2009]
« on: Sunday 07 March 2010, 06:27 pm »
Eva emailed me this doll description:

"Hi, I have been searching for a while for a doll I remember from the early 80s called which I think was called 'Olivia'. I remember these dolls had gemstone eyes. I haven't been able to find anything at all about these online. I remember they had pastel hair (mauve). Does anyone know if these or if they were called 'Olivia' or something else?"
Thank You! :) Eva

I am actually searching for something quite similar.  In the 1980s I had a Barbie-sized doll with very light blue rhinestone/gemstone eyes (no definition to the pupil or cornea, the entire eye socket was filled with one large opaque gem), but her hair was very light blonde if I'm remembering it correctly.  I also had her horse which was sold seperately.

When I had her I thought she was a bit creepy to look at.  I wish I could remember her name too!

The Sparkling Eyes Princess Flower Brides?

Or...The Disney Princess Special Sparkle Collection?

Both of those sets had gems for eyes.

Those are interesting! 1983 Flower Princess Starry-eyed Bride (with "Sparkling Eyes).

There's Laurelle (brunette/red hair)

There were some versions of Lisette with regular eyes as well. :)

Original Flower Princess (1982)

"Made by Creata Int'l for Woolworth stores in 1982. Lisette has Flower Frosted hair (lavender streaks in it), violet eyes and a pretty purple gown with flowers. She is a 11 1/2" tall with soft movable arms & bendable legs."

Oh! I just noticed that there were two head molds used. I like the smiling one better! :)

Oooh they are so pretty. But when the light hits them wrong they do seem a little demonic! I love their outfits though.

There actually is a Barbie with blue gemstone eyes, I found one in one of my nana's thrifting hauls. Now SHE is terrifying--the whole eye is a gemstone. I found her name but I can't remember it right now, I'll find it later and post it.
Wish List!
-Any Merwees (CAP Toys)
-Lady Lovely Locks Seek & Peek board game
-Used/nude Fashionista Ken

Sounds freaky .. the weird think is although I find these dolls unsettling I used to love the my little ponies you could get with gems for eyes. I must have watched too many films about demon dollies as a child :)

I believe that is Sparkle Eyes Barbie! I had her and I can't say that I enjoyed playing with her that much - I just liked her dress!   :D

Hi everyone! this is Eva. I'm new here - just registered - but I am the one who asked the original question. It's so weird but I just thought about this doll and the question this morning and several hours later I checked my mail and had a message from you after all this time!! Wow!!

Thanks so much for everyones help and posting your pictures. The Starry eyed brides are fab! I love them!! For some reason the name "Olivia" has just stuck with the image of the doll I had in mind but the purple haired princess looks a lot like the doll I remember seeing.

Thanks for your help! This forum is great!! :)
