[ID: Kenner Munch Mates (1978)]

I found several pics of this very interesting, offbeat plushie online. He's a cartoonish-looking orange cat with pink stripes(he looks a little bit like Garfield); his ears, snout, and nose are made of felt,

He also comes with two pieces of plastic food(a hot dog and an ice cream bar) that one presumably could feed him.

And his tag says that he's part of the Munch Mates line made by Kenner and General Mills in 1978.

I'd like to learn a little bit more about this toy line; I was curious if they, perhaps, were promotional items, and what other animals there were. Any help will be much appreciated.

Upon googling them, they are briefly mentioned in a newspaper article from 1978.

I'm also pretty sure that General Mills *purchased* Kenner in the late 60's.
