Colored glass doll/figurine
« on: Sunday 30 June 2013, 08:16 am »
When I was a little girl I had a ballet teacher who (when we did exceedingly well) would reward us with little glass figurines. I called them "ballerinas" but I think they were actually closer to a little girl in a dress. They were clear, solid colored, and small. I know I had a purple and an orange one.

I believe they were probably 2" tall girls/women figurines made of a solid colored translucent glass (not cloudy or frosted) with a pleated or ruffled dress and her arms at her side. I do not think they had bonnets as the second two examples do. I think it was closer to the first example but her hands were at her side, she had no parasol, and there was slightly more definition to the dress. If I remember it's as if she were twirling....hands at her side or clutching the edges of the dress as it swirls....
(kind of like this: http://www.polyvore.com/cgi/img-thing?.out=jpg&size=l&tid=1937427 )

In later years I had the game "Enchanted Palace" and they reminded me of the little plastic dolls that were the pieces to that game.
This is the best pic I could find of the little girl shaped pieces

I've found a few things on ebay that looked similar but not quite it, but they will give you an idea of the kind of look they were, as well.

Are you, by any chance, talking about the same clear plastic dolls mentioned in this thread?
