U.S. Barbies vs. International releases

I was hoping some of you might be Barbie experts. I am working on a Barbie project, focusing on the 80s. I am finding it hard to distinguish at times if a doll was released in the U.S., or is exclusive to certain countries. Is there a way to tell? For instance, I came across "Fabulous Fur" Barbie from 1983, but certain links I've found indicate she may have been a European exclusive. So does that mean she wasn't released in the U.S. at all? Please help!
